That would be nice!!!

CigDaze 01-20-2004 06:59 AM

Holy Crap! That thing is flying!!!
...And it had 3/4 fuel

Very nice...:D :D

That would lead me to believe that it should be very, very close to 80 with 496HO's.

Dock Holiday 01-20-2004 10:38 AM

YEAH BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Now we're talking!

Major Sweet out of a true deep vee boat.

I cannot believe how it is carrying the bow, That is awesome. Looks like it has some "Velocity" built into the hull?

Thanks for the pictures!

with 525's any decent sportboat that size should carry the bow that way. imo

CigDaze 01-20-2004 11:11 AM

The more I look at it, the more I'm in love! :D :D
Man, that boat has some sweet lines!

Wow - I take it you're not impressed.

I don't like that picture cause I get chills looking at it and thinking how cold those guys must be.

thosetwins 01-20-2004 11:20 AM

no, i think its a killer boat. just that a 29 or 30 foot boat with that kind of power should be jumping out of the water. if that boat just had mags or hos and it was doing that then i would really be impressed.

That water looks very flat to me. Unless something popped the bow up at just the moment the picture was snaped, then that is very high for any Baja I have ever seen.

That is why these boats love the chop so much, you have to get them out of the water.

Here is a shot of my boat and you can see how much is in the water. You will find your 29 to look very much the same, because I have ridden next to several.

Dock your splash looks like your coming off a wake? I don't see any such slash in the 30ol picture.

thosetwins 01-20-2004 11:34 AM

The trouble maker in this picture doesn't seem to have much in the water:

29 Outlaw,

WOW, I may stand corrected!

I just do not recall them carrying the bow that high?

This is mine at my usual top-speed of about 40mph:

Dock Holiday 01-20-2004 01:15 PM

Looks nice, the 29 does carry the bow a lot more than the 36 does. Bad memory on my part.

I believe the reason the bow is so high in the picture is they just crossed another boat wake. Look at the bottom left corner of the picture and you see the wake from the boat that the picture is taken from. Its still a cool picture!!!

A stock 29 Outlaw w/ HO's runs 76-77.

Saleen367 01-21-2004 07:42 PM

Just saw that boat in person last weekend. It's in the showroom but sold.

Salesman said they re-propped it and got and honest 90 GPS. I forget now what they were running for props, 34 pitch I think.
He said they were having to throttle back a bit in that photo as to not over rev the engines. Thus the need for different props.

Do you know how much they got for it with the 525's

Saleen367 01-21-2004 09:56 PM

No, I don't.

I never even asked about their 30 Outlaw's because they work such a hard bargain on everything.

I went there to show some friends the Baja line so they could decide if it was for them or not. I think they came away thinking Baja was fine, but Hawkeye was not.

I here ya, I called them twice on a boat and it sounded like they where doing me a favor by selling me one of there boats? f*** them....

Saleen367 01-22-2004 08:22 PM

Whosnext,

I actually bought the 25 I have now from them, but it was a color issue only. I had to jump through hoops with the Baja Rep just to get it done with the incentive they offered last year.

I had to laugh though ... when I was there last weekend I was interested in knowing the MSRP on the 29 OL they had. No one could find the figure ... uhh huh ... right. And they kept telling me that the fixed rate financing + rebate was a better deal than the 1.9%. Sure if you're financing $5k instead of 50k. But no one wanted to fess up and come clean that they couldn't offer the 1.9 financing because they are not my territorial dealer. Honesty sell a lot with me. Jack me around and I won't be back.
It all about money down there. I can't say I got a bad deal on the one I got last May, but I'm not sure that the service was anything better than anywhere else either.

bikinilover 01-23-2004 09:58 AM

They jack with me everytime I call. I wouldn't buy a thing from them. They sure do get some cool boats though. I curious to see the custom 04 29 thay are getting. It will have HOs and you are not supposed to be able to get HOs in the 04 29s. They must have some pull.

WHOSNEXT 01-23-2004 10:48 AM

Saleen367, I think they have more money than brains? They might have a good business but they lost me for a customer.....I was going to fly down there to look at there 33 with 575's but they would not give me any info over the phone, EMAIL or call me back? f*** them......

Caincando1 01-23-2004 12:39 PM

Saleen367,

Who do you deal with at Hawkeye? They(Usually I talk to Jeff) have treated me like family and I've never bought a boat from them. He has also treated many of the people I boat with the same way. I think it depends on who you deal with. As for Highway 61 marine, both of the 25's and a H2X that I run with came from there. All I can say is, don't expect anything after the sale. Very poor customer service!!! Actually hawkeye has worked on warranty issues on two of the boats, even though they wheren't bought there. The third on just gave up all together.

Brian

Saleen367 01-24-2004 09:35 PM

Brian,

I hear what you're saying about 61. I've heard it before from others as well.
But I also have to look at it a different way. If I buy a Baja from Hawkeye, what's the chance they are going to drive 200 miles to pick up my boat and service it? Will 61? I don't think either will.
So instead of beating myself into a pulp and begging the Rep to give me incentives(1.9%) on a boat at Hawkeye again, I'll try and get a deal done 65 miles away at 61. I figure I'm going to have to drive it wherever warranty service is needed anyway.
Jeff @ 61 has always treated me well. I only hope that wouldn't change if I purchased a boat there.

I've dealt with Scott at Hawkeye. Very good to me as well. However, last year I went round and round with finance dept. on which (rebate vs 0%) was a better deal. This finance lady was an idiot. More than anything she will keep me away.
