Windscreen
Has anyone ever strenthened their outlaw windscreen by filling it with foam or the like? I've fixed mine twice, and it keeps cracking. It needs to be solid, but still remain light. Thx in advance.

Not sure what you mean? Mine's solid plastic, and very strong.

Sorry, I am talking about the older outlaws with the thin, hollow type windscreen.
|
what year/model are you talking about???
|
Mine is a 24'/93
|
Thanks az...I was not aware that there is a difference.
If it is some kind of layered or cored material, I would try and see if you can get a replacement made of something stronger providing the old one as a mold. |
I was thinking about pouring in liquid expandable foam, but concerned about distortion when curing. Its the same foam the Baja factory uses under the floor.
|
The expanding foam can generate a significant amount of pressure when curing.

Where is it cracking? I have a 92 24OL and have no cracks.. My windscreeen still has a label on it with the manufactures name and address if you want it.. You might be able to contact them about strenthening it. I guess Baja contacted windscreens out. |
DO NOT USE THE EXPANDING FOAM !!! It will distort the shape as it expands/dries.
Sorry I do not have any other ideas at the moment. |
Tc-Outlaw, The mfg's info would be great. I'll call them, and see if they have any ideas. I am considering running my Outlaw in the P5 class, and need to do something inexpensive with that windscreen to strenthen it.

Painting your outlaw windscreen
Has anyone painted their plexiglass windscreen on an outlaw. Seen one in a magazine painted and it looked pretty nice. Was wondering if anyone had done this and if there were any pictures or advice. Any info is appreciated.
