put them up under the front v-berth... just like you had them in your 25

Ironmanwb 04-05-2004 08:13 PM

Can you put them in the rear bench?

Be sure and mount them this time so they don't beat the sh!t out of your cuddy. Just giving you a hard time!!
I would put them under your rear bench if you have the room. Not sure if 12s will fit. I could only get 10s in mine.

Steel Outlawed 04-06-2004 06:53 AM

I have mine where bikinilover has his. I think you get the best sound from that location.

Bust-a? 04-06-2004 04:53 PM

IMO, bass usually sounds better coming out of the cabin with the subs facing forward or upward because the cabin acts as a bass chamber. That way the bass has something to bounce off of and reproduce itself. Ever notice how subs sound better in a car or SUV either facing upward or facing the back of the vehicle rather than the subs facing the passengers? Again, just my personal opinion. If you put them under the rear seat, I would definitely recommend building boxes for them. Free-airs just don't hit very hard. I have a free-air Infinity under my rear seat and I can't even tell it's there compared to the sub in the cabin.

SSComp 04-06-2004 07:04 PM

see,

you should have stopped by for a test drive (listen)

liquid asset 04-06-2004 07:58 PM

I already have 2 10's under the rear bench that hit OK but I guess I'll put my 1,000 watt twelves back up in the vberth like I always do and anchor it to the floor, Busta is right they hit 5 times harder facing the front of the cabin it just does'nt look cool and waste space, but I guess I have a little more space to lose now. I'm going now to install a RF bd.1000.1

SSComp 04-06-2004 10:01 PM

I've been around a lot of systems.

When I only had 600w (500 realistic) driving my kickers it sounded great for the wattage.

Now I stepping up to about 1,400w (1,000 realistic) with some Orion XTR Pro (old style) clones that work great in a sealed environment.

If any one is interested in old style HCCA, XTR Pro, or XTR clones I have some samples leftover leftover before Orion went Bankrupt.

Your 1,000 w RF is probably underrated and can out do my 1,400w amp.

liquid asset 04-07-2004 07:30 PM

yes the bd.1000.1 will do 1101 watts rms

BajaRunner 04-08-2004 07:22 AM

you better hurry and finish. the poker run is less than 2 weeks away.

ive got 4 vega 12s in the back bench, and imo they dont hit near as hard as they should. ive heard (maybe from you :D ) that underneath hits a lot harder.

ive got the old style punch 75's. 1 to every 2 12's. PPI amps for the high end.

hows it run?

I dont know how he did it, but i built a box in mine. i pulled the back seat, built the box, set it in, and put the seat back in. lost ALL my storage under the back seat. had to move the batterys.

rfweber 04-09-2004 11:12 AM

sub

Thanks for the info Danger...
That sounds like it was a large project...
But I was on the same page with putting the subs in a
box...under the seat...(Loss of Beer space sucks)!!!!

Yes they are in air tight sealed boxes. Here is a pic.
Thanks!

Bust-a? 04-12-2004 02:14 PM

Nice install Bikinilover! It looks like you coated the boxes with some kind of sealer? What did you use? I've contimplated building a box for under the seat to improve the sound of my free-air but haven't had the time to tackle that one yet. The sub in my cabin does the job fine but it would never hurt to have a little more bass coming from the bench seat - the chicks seem to like it there! :D Do you get any unwanted rattles or vibrations from having the subs under the bench?

yzbert 04-12-2004 05:01 PM

do the subs all the way up in the v-berth work well. i have a 36 outlaw and there is no room to put them under the rear seat. have only just short of 8 inches. yea makes a lot of sense a 24-25 outlaw has plenty to room to stick 10's under the back seat but the 36 dosnt. have one 10 mounted under the glove box but need to get more bass from somewhere??? any clues??

liquid asset 04-12-2004 05:21 PM

I put mine in the front of the v berth firing forward and they boom

yzbert 04-12-2004 07:40 PM

do you mean firing toward the stern? how would they fire forward?

Thanks! They are coated with some sort of fiberglass sealer. No rattles, pretty solid install.

Frankly, I bought the boat this way.

I personally would not have done this type of mount on the on set.

I compared my 600 watt (300 each overrated) to some much larger systems. My system was much better.

The cabin acts as a huge bass chamber you can really feel. Any loose items (floor boards etc) will vibrate. I found myself chasing these vibrations. You can actually see the water ripple as you crank it up. This truly prooves its not the "size" of the systems that matters it's the "magic" of the intallation. :D

The absolute worst thing you can do is place the woofer in free air. Read the info on your speaker before you by it. Some react better in some enviroments than others.

If you do not want to do much cutting or fabricating then I suggest a band pass box. this would be resistant to environment issues yet still give the punch you need.

I attached the following cheapo pic. You could pict this up at best buy for about $70
