232 owners tip...

I have a very good lab. prop story.. I recently purchased a labbed 26 B1 for a future project,,, well, my 23 mirage plus that I normally run on the 232 was out getting a nick fixed and I had no prop,, so I figured I would give the 26 a shot,, well, I didn't even think she would get on plane never mind run like a bandit... w/ 23 m + she ran 60 @ 4,500 rpm.. with the
Merc. labbed 26 B1 she ran 63 @ 4,200 with full gear and fuel.. Midrange went from 43 ish @ 3,500 to 50 ish @ 3,500.. all I can say is that I never would have ever tried such a big prop, but,,, what a difference.. handling, midrange, top end,, all a great improvement..

thats pretty impressive your rpms only dropped 300, i would have guessed they drop 600-800 rpms

well,,,, thats what I thought... 1 inch of pitch lowers rpm by 200 , I went up 3 inches = 600, the prop was labbed to get 300 rpms, so kinda makes sense, the initial drop should have been 600 which = 3,900 plus the 300 in labbing puts me back at 4,200... The only thing I can't account for is the addional blade on the B1.. but after running this prop,, I couldn't have been happier.. too bad I just sold the boat,,

I tried a labded mirage 25 (non plus) last summer. Got 2 mph out of it.

Your results are surprising me. Great! You cannot compare the handling of a 4 blades. I am not a mechanical and correct me if am wrong but I think 4200 is not the best thing on a 4200-4600 recommended range. Conclusion: Maybe the Bravo one 24 labded would be the best prop for the same application. It would probably take the engine in the 4400 rpm range with the same results... Very interesting...

Here is a tip for those thinking of buying a 232, DON'T!!!!! I own a 2002 with 496/mag and flat-out love it! However this season I find my self surfing from boat envy! It's similarly to penis envy in, I'm looking to add a few more feet. Thinking about Sunsation 288 (single) or 29 Outlaw (twins). Hopefully by this time next year...
