Easy Upgrade and inexpensive!

I just ran across this thread from Too Old.

These things really make a difference if you have the cheap-o white plastic ones.

(By the way, I dont work for Too Old, just think these are worth checking out!) ;)

Teambaja you are right. Put new red ones in my boat and it really changed the look. It gave it alot more class. :)

No that I'm a cheap bastard ('cause I am), but I spray painted mine with engine enamel (purple) of all things and they have help up fine for two years so far.

I did it as a whim intending to replace all four...

Ironmanwb 05-02-2004 08:39 PM

Those are sweet I will have to get a set for my boat whenever I get it back.

Ironmanwb 05-12-2004 10:03 AM

does anyone know how to get the rear cupholders out of the vinyl armrests in the back? Mine are glued in or something.

Steel Outlawed 05-12-2004 11:43 AM

They are not glued but they are about impossible to remove without destroying. I finally just broke mine and pulled it out. Then you will have to remove the staples out of the vinyl and take a dremel tool or something too make the opening a little larger. Because they will not fit in the existing opening, or at least mine did not.

I ordered two for the front today and If I can get the back ones out with out f-ing up the vinyl then I will get two more. How long did it take to get yours?

We did blue in the cockpit and silver in the cuddy.

Went one step farther and added blue LED lights in the bottom of the cup holders. Looks really cool when you are at the docks at night!

Ironmanwb 05-13-2004 08:20 AM

Pick that bumper up dock... I can't believe that you would leave your boat such a mess.

boss252 05-13-2004 08:31 AM

Hey Dock, how did you mount the led in the cup holder? that sounds really cool.

Outlawcowgirl 05-13-2004 12:01 PM

Yes, Dock, you have my attention...do tell!

Dock Holiday 05-13-2004 01:12 PM

Okay, this information is free just for my Baja buddies!

Steelware has already stolen my idea, glad you asked first!!!!!!

While at the Miami Boat show I noticed many high end boats with a lot of LED mood lighting. The wife loved it.

Then while at the Go2Marine.com booth we found these reall cool round LED lights in different colors. I think they are around $9 each, don't remember exactly. We bought one for every cup holder. You know how the aluminum cup holders have the hold in the bottom of them. These lights are almost the same size as the hole, but just a little smaller in diameter. So I went to Lowe's Hardward and much to my surprise they have a rubber grommet that fits the light perfectly and also fits the hole in the cup holder perfectly. Mount the lights, run the wires and presto, everyone at the docks will be looking at your boat!

They are really cool and use very little voltage to operate. I wired mine directly to the battery and have a seperate switch under the back seat for them Steelware wired his to a switch on the dash.

Ironmanwb 05-13-2004 07:32 PM

I shouldn't have gone to that web site now I want to trick the whole boat out with different lights.

I am even thinking about getting a piece of heavy plexyglass and making a clear instrument panel with accent lights behind it.
