30 Outlaw how fast??
 

I am a former 25 Outlaw SST owner who ran 67 with a 502 mpi. I sold my Outlaw for a 29 Fountain.... I was looking at the 30 Outlaw but at the time of my purchase there was only one of them around and there were no speed numbers on it.

I am curious (still love Baja) what does that 30 run ????

From what I hear with 496ho's around 70mph,there is a thread on Team Bajamarine with some speeds of the 30 and some others in its size range for comparisons.

I have a friend that ran a 30 with 496 HO's and got 78 on GPS, and this is a reliable source. The 496 mag's are around 70 on gps. I have not witnessed this, but like I said a reliable source.

8 MPH on a "mag" to "HO" horsepower difference seems steep. Thanks though. When I was looking I was talking to Baja test friver who was hoping for 90 + with 525's. Never followed up to see if he got it. I still love the bottom of a straight V with a 24 deadrise.....

I think they got to 89.3 on gps with that combination. If I remember correctly.

Do you know what are the street price of that config is? 89.3 is real fast, with a set of whipple's - wow......

Just read more on that thread I was talking about earlier,the 30 that was tested at Boatest.com at 70.8 was the standard 496 mags not the ho's.

Call Hawkeye Boat Sales in Dubuque Iowa. I know they had seat time in a new 30 with 525EFI's and were very impressed with it. Ran even with or a bit faster than a 33 they have with 575SC's. I'm not positive but I think Steel Outlawed is right and Hawkeye said they had the 30 in the upper 80's.

Yea didn't someone on here have a 30 running high 80's with 525s or 575s a while back,I remember it was pretty cherry looking going through the water.

OK, so here is my question..........All we heard was how the 30 was going to be 5-7 mph faster than the 29 b/c of all this wind drag modifications and such but it appears there was no gain b/c we know of a 29 Outlaw on this forum that runs 78-79 with the 496ho's. So why would I go buy a new 30 when the 29 is basically the same speed, if speed is what I am looking for? One can buy a slightly used 29 for thousands less than this 30.

Thousands less!!!???? How about 10’s of thousands less!!!!

You could buy my 29 for $75,000 and it runs 79.6 on GPS with 496HO’s.

Anyway – we all understand what you’re saying about the 30 Outlaw. Early reports had it running 5mph faster than a 29 because of all the RDT&E (wind tunnel, etc). It looks like all that RDT&E got maybe 1-2mph yet the cost of all that RDT&E is passed on to the buyer.

Oh really? pretty attractive price for not having a lot of hours and being meticulously well cared for
