Paging Dock Holiday
 
Dock, A while back I saw a thread where you had cured the cabin door rattle.Any chance you could send me some pics. of what and how you did it????I've tried about everthing I can think of ,and yesterday riding in the passenger seat I noticed the damn door still rattles....

Guys,

I will be sure and take some pictures tonight and post them.

What I did was replace the existing hardware with Hiwin Linear rail and bearing blocks. This is the type of stuff we sell for robotics.

It is probably overkill, but it worked GREAT in my application.

Some pictures as promised.


This rail is VERY stiff and solid. There are bolt holes every 50 MM (2 Inches) approximately which is more than five times the stock unit.

Mark,
How did you fasten the top rail where it goes behind the dash area???? Is there enough room to get to the screws?????Even the bottom rail looks like it could be a bit-h.....

Like the original factory system I did not try and put any screws in that area. It would be almost impossible. The rail I used as about 8 - 10 screws exposed in the entry way, and it is VERY solid. Not having the ones in that enclosed area is not a problem. I think the factory aluminum channel only had about three screws holding it, so this is much stronger.

As for height, it was a perfect fit on my boat. I did not even have to adjust the latch on the door. It could not have worked any better on mine.
