1998-2000 33 Outlaw How fast??
I am considering a 1999 33 Outlaw with 502 EFI motors and I was looking for some idea of what kind of speeds people are seeing with this setup. I need a baseline number for my calculations. I do know it has Mirage 3 blade props on it now, but I don't know the pitch. I would guess probably 25"
Thanks |

I've got a 98 33' Outlaw 454 mags 24" turbo vector 3 blades and I run consistently 68-70mph on gps depending on water, load etc...

Re: 1998-2000 33 Outlaw How fast??
If the speedometer works probably will show 74 but if you use GPS I'd put my money on 68-70. I have a 2000 model that started out with 7.4L MPI 310hp motors. 60 mph on a good day with 23 mirage plus. Now 500hp's and labbed 27's around 77. All GPS numbers.
You can do the math on 454 mags and 502 mags and get a good idea. I'd say the 25's are where you want to be propwise. |
Re: 1998-2000 33 Outlaw How fast??
Hey it's a boring day here so I did some math. From my experience 310's will get you 60 mph and 500hp's at 470hp will get you 76. So:
310x2=620 385x2=770 415x2=830 470x2=940 Speed difference of 16 mph and total hp difference of 320. That means it takes 20 hp to go 1 mph faster. My guess(uneducated too): 454 = 60 mph 454 mag = 67.5mph 502 mag = 70.5mph 500hp = 76 mph |

Outlawinil--
Thanks for taking the time to run the numbers. Thanks to everyone else who posted up their info. I am all over the board on my search for a new ride. I found a 33 with HP500's that might work. I don't think the 502's are enough. I also found a 36 with Whipplecharged 502's that the guy says runs mid 80's. I find that hard to believe. I will see that boat in about two weeks. We'll see what my handheld gps says !!! Thanks Dave |
