New 23 Outlaw
Just saw a new 23 Outlaw on a dealers web sight. Looked great. Nothing on Baja's sight about it. Anyone have, seen one? Was wondering what the specs are. This one has a 496 in it. Pretty sweet looking.

Re: New 23 Outlaw
Hawkeyes site shows one.
http://www.hawkeyeboatsales.com/NewB...getmodelNum=97 From what I can see in the picture, it resembles a 30 O/L jt |
Re: New 23 Outlaw
Thanks for posting the link, JT. That is where i saw it, but being computer illiterate, i was having trouble posting it. It does look like a 30..and a 25.

Re: New 23 Outlaw
Its got the 30's rear vent setup,
the rest of the O/L's are different. jt |
Re: New 23 Outlaw
I have seen the prototype first hand at the Port Clinton poker run. It is a pretty sweet little boat. I don't remember much but It looks like the new 30 downsized. It had a 496 mag in it. They didn't run it because there were 5-7 footers and it was a 93 mile run.
But i thought it looked really cool. |
Re: New 23 Outlaw
Is the 25 going bye bye? Seems kind of stupid to get rid of their best selling OL. SO its going to be 20, 23, 30, 35, 40.? Heard the 33 & 36 is being replaced with the 35. Guess i'll have to buy a used 36 when i'm ready to move up. Also, if i'm in a 20 why would I want to go up only 3 feet? But the next step is a 30? Doesn't seem logical to me but Thats just my opinion, what do I know?

Re: New 23 Outlaw
I think there would be a fairly significant upgrade from the 20 to the 23. My guess is the 20' has a 20degree bottom w/ sit down seats and very small cuddy. The 23' most likely has the 24degree bottom w/ drop out bolsters and a cuddy. You can keep the same tow vehicle, but you have more functionality. I would venture to say there would be a 27 OL in the future as well :p

Re: New 23 Outlaw
I think they are supposed to re-tool the 25ol, it is their best seller. Now Iam off to the lake for three days of killer weather and party time at Lake Tenkiller in OK :)

The 23 is a real nice looking boat however. |
Re: New 23 Outlaw
I like the new designs, I would really like to see a 27 single engine that would do 70 mph. They could probably sell a ton of those.

Re: New 23 Outlaw
My 03 25 outlaw sees 72 on a good day (cooler temp. and low fuel) with the HO, labbed prop, corsa none muffled tips, and a K & N filter.
With no more 500 option, the next move up the would be the 525. Can't see a 27 or 28' outlaw hitting 70 with the HO??? The 23 is a nice looking boat, and would be all around a hell of a jump from the 20 in my opinion. |
Re: New 23 Outlaw
I can't see the 23 as a step up boat from a 20 but rather an alternative option for entry level. I jumped from a 20 Outlaw to a 28 Cigarette and was also looking at a 29 Outlaw. If the 23 had been available when I got my 20 I'd probably have gone with it instead. I almost went with an H2X but liked the Outlaws better and the 25 was too much $ for me. I think they need to fill the gap between the 25 and the 30 with a 27/28 Outlaw available with single or twin power. There are alot of other builders offering that size and I think there is a strong market for them.

Re: New 23 Outlaw
Apparently entry level is different for everyone. If you look at the July 2004 Powerboat Mag you will find what they call the entry level roundup. Guess what Baja made the roundup? 30 Outlaw!?
I do consider the 23 outlaw "entry level". A friend owned a 20 outlaw for one season. It was a piece of chit, at least in the type water we boat on. I owned a 1986 21' Bayliner, granted you didn't get the speed, but it handled the water much better. As for a move up, definately the 23 is a move up. Stand up bolsters, 24 degree deadrise, etc. And for the price of the 23, couldn't be happier. They want a good deal more than I paid for my 25 less than a year ago. So when I sell mine will be worth that much more. |
Re: New 23 Outlaw
Are prices going up across the board? Seams crazy to ask as much for a 23 as a 25.
|
Re: New 23 Outlaw
The 23 is not going to replace the 25 from what I have heard. The just wanted to have a better entry level boat and not quite the jump from a 20 to a 25.
