Very curious to see what a shortie will do on a 24. Anyone know? |
Re: imco shortie
I really would like to get a 1/2 spacer and see if that works i did get on plane with the bravo's but it was not easy so the 1/2 might be just right. i measured from the bottom
of the boat to the prop shaft and i am 4 1/4 so i thought that would work but i guess not what is the price for the 1 inch spacers?? |
Re: imco shortie
And yes i do have hydr. steering and 280 k-planes.

Re: imco shortie
I can't understand it Dock but it's true and yes i did talk to imco they said my x may be
little higher than i thought. so i will keep at it. I don't think the power has any effect on getting on plane but i could be wrong. |
Re: imco shortie
When I first went to the Imco 3 inch shorter lower, I was running a 30 pitch Bravo 4-blade labbed prop. I too had a hard time getting on plane. Even once I was up and running the prop was slipping a lot. I dropped the drive a 1/2" but that didn't help either. I then tried a Herring 5-blade and a 6-blade (which is what I am running) and I solved any slip problem. Getting on plane was no problem and the boat really was hooked up. At the time Mercury didn't have their 5-blade out. You may want to give that a try as it is a lot less expensive. The 6-blade Herring is 28 pitch.
Good luck. Drill It |
Re: imco shortie
I tried a 2" shortie on my 01 25 Outlaw and lost 3-4 mph. Actually got to plane much quicker but did not handle as well. It actually leaned to the outside of a turn (pretty agressive turn) and scared the chit out of me and my passenger. Took it off and went back to stock.

Re: imco shortie
Drill It may have the right idea. Before I added a spacer I would call Julie at Throttle Up and have her to loan you some 5 blades to try.
I have seen the 5 blades work wonders on high "X" boats. |
Re: imco shortie
Yes, thats what i am going to do call julie!!!!!!! and try the 5 blade.
THANKS GUYS!!!!!!!!!! |
Re: imco shortie
i too think it has to be prop set-up of some kind. 5's or better 4's something has to be able to dial it in, and if not at 2" shorter than foe sure at 1.5" shorter
