How does a 26' scarab compare to a 25' outlaw in rough water?
I just discovered this forum and it looks great. I have a question for all and would like honest opionions. I am looking for a clean used performance boat. I have tried a 25' outlaw and it is an awesome boat that I love. It goes through rough water great for its size.
I have found a very clean 1996 26' scarab with a 502 and low hours in very good shape for 25K which I figure is about 10k less then I can get a used 25' outlaw. How does the scarab handle the rough water in comparison to the outlaw?
Is it worth spending the extra 10K for a 25' outlaw? Are they that much better? Thanks for your input.

You should ask this question on the scarab forum. Welcraft mskes a great product and have been in the big water boats a lot longer. I would save the 10k myself.

i think the scarab has a real small cabin compared to the baja, but i belive the ride is similar it also has a lower freeboard and is a little narrower.

I thinkk its worth the extra 10 just for looks and resale, the styling is way better on a 25, not to mention the ride, I have had a 24 and 25 outlaw, and for 25k I would go back to the 24, they were both great rough water boats for the size. Now I have a 1995 32 outlaw that is incredable in rough water, and its 4 sale to. Nothing against scarab, but I only like the 38's and 43's, they seem to be built a lot better than the smaller ones. One other thing on the 26 is the bolsters stick way up out of the boat, which is not real pretty, here is a pick of my old 24

I guess everyone has there own veiws, you should probably drive both , and see for your self. I personally would prefer a 24 or 25, unless I could get a 29 scarab with twin 350 mags, you can find a nice one in the low 40,000 range
