Re: Notched 30 ol........

It would be hard to believe if this was infact true. Baja does make a nice "Family" boat. It was my impression that this was the companies goal. Putting notches or steps in the hull can only jeopordize that goal. I was alway under the impression that Baja would sacrafice the mph for the handling and safety factor.

Baja is one of the most diversified boat builders available today. It wouldn't suprise me if they did stepp a hull or two. If for no other reason just to dabble and see where it goes. They do make a nice family boat but I've seen many families with very young children operating everthing from Nor-Tecs to Cigarettes. So its really all in what a buyer wants and fits the budget. Baja will continue to diversify and experiment......

I'll agree with diversity. The steps, perhaps, slim chance imo. Baja is corporately owned. They are content making entry level boats. Remember, when you think performance, what do you think?....Baja. Slim chance. You think Nor-Tech, Cigarette, Fountain, Outerlimits etc. etc. I guess what I'm saying is, Baja has been unable to compete (performance wise) for so long, why would they jeopardize the reputation they have spent 20 years building on: a safe family boat. Fountain, Outerlimits, Nor-tech, push the envelope on a daily basis. Thats what brought them fame and fortune - Speed. Safety and a 24 degree hull made Baja (and perhaps a lot of Bang for the $$$). Furthermore, Baja sells a $hit load of boats using their current formula. Why screw with a good thing.

P.S. Don't get me wrong, I own a 02' 29ol and I absolutely love it. I just got really board and figured this would be a great debate. :D :drink:
P.S.S. I added pictures because pictures are cool. :evilb:

I am not sure who jimmy mcfly really is (maybe a Baja insider) but I know for a fact that this project is in the works. I am not sure if it is on the back burner now with all the other stuff they are trying to get done but I know this was in the works.

Take it for what it's worth. I don't really care either way. I am waiting on the 35ol, with 600's or maybe even more.....................God I love to dream.

I agree!

That you did not have a clue what you were talking about!:evilb:

What all have we seen since this first post?

Many new models introduced.
Many old models discountinued.
Notched Transoms
Pad Bottoms
Liner Construction
Carbon Fiber Hulls
Staggered engines
No bulk heads
Broken boats
OUT OF BUSINESS

Who would have thunk it?

I was told Baja built one 30 with a notch.

It had 6.2's and worked good.

Hawkeye took a salvaged 30 w/HO's
and had it notched, but it didn't
work that well.
