29 Outlaw cover

Who has purchased an after market, non OEM cover for their boat? Where do you recommend shopping for one? Any recommendations on the type of material for Texas?

To make sure I'm clear. A cover for the entire top of the boat not the snap on cockpit cover. I already have that. I'm tired of the oak trees dropping their things on my boat and staining the top.

A chainsaw might be the cheaper way to go. :drink:

I bought a cover online , last year, but I don't remember the company. Do a search on "teambajamarine.com" for covers, and you will find a couple different sites that can help. Be sure to compare $ because there was about a $50.00 difference on the cover I bought.
I bought a shark shin cover and it doesn't leak at all !! They are custom made for the boat. Meaning they have the specs. and when your receive it it will fit nice !!
Jeff

I found the web site I bought from:

I bought a cover for my 33' from iboats.com, Sharkskin material, I think it was around 550 clams. I like the Sharkskin because it's a quite a bit lighter than Sunbrella and it was a lot cheaper and it doesn't let any water in.

Same here. Bought mine from iboats. Nice cover and pretty inexpensive. Make sure you get the pole with the vent attachment. Also, I took mine to a local upholstery shop and had them cut holes out for the cleats. Its nice if you leave the boat in the water and want to use the full cover. It cost about $40.

Try these guys. I have purchased two from them, one for our 272 and another for the 36 Outlaw.

The price was right, service was good and they fit VERY well.

Word of advise. Don't buy the Sunbrella. It is awesome, and very high quality, but they weigh a ton. We did not use the one much for the 36 and ended up selling it because it was too heavy to deal with.

I would buy the next grade down if doing it again.

Also there is a company listed in the back of the boating magazines that make a VERY LIGHT weight one that has caught my eye.

I believe it is called Carrie Covers, or something like that. They look great, but are very expensive from what I have seen.

Good luck

I have one that came with my 29' Outlaw and all I can say is get one no matter the $$$$. Mine is in storage now but I will try to get over there this weekend for a pic. and info. Mine covers the top and the sides right down to the trailer which is great becasue of the shinning sun on it.

Odered a shark skin from iboats. Seem to have good pricing and shorter shipping time. Thanks to all.

Re: 29 Outlaw cover

I cleaned up the boat enough to put the new cover on. It fits really nice. They only sent 12 straps. I figured when it said straped include it ment enough for every loop. Well we are short about 6 - 8 depending on what one thinks it needs.

So who can help me here. Do I really need a strap in every loop? Do you pull with you full cover on? If not I think the 12 will be fine but I need some feed back here.

Man I hate them damn oak tree when it comes to my boat. Way too much extra cleaning and protecting.

Thanks

snap on covers have to fit perfectly.. you are better off going to a local shop...

Re: 29 Outlaw cover

I put 12 on mine and I never trailer with it on. I only use the cockpit cover for trailering becasue I'm afraid of burning the paint and ripping the cover..

Re: 29 Outlaw cover

I have also had several sharksin full covers with the straps. Great when parked, but when on the road I had problems with the plastic strap fasteners rubbing on the gel coat and marring the finish. Ever since have towed with snap-on cockpit covers, and I put spade fasteners on the front edge of that.

Re: 29 Outlaw cover

Do not try to trailer with the full cover. They are not designed for it.

dstroyed 03-30-2005 06:48 PM

Re: 29 Outlaw cover

Got it, don't trailer with it on. The cockpit cover will do fine. Not sure why I even asked...Thanks
