Official "Sort of Interesting Discussion" Thread

OK, I'm starting this thread since I know that I'm as guilty as the next guy when it comes to hijacking other threads.

So this can now be our "shoot the sh#! " page, for all general comunication.

Fruitta

I guess no one is stepping up to your plate.

Let me give you some of my hard earned wisdom. When I was younger, all I wanted to do was race. When I finally got to the point of racing offshore, I first raced in the production classes.

Offshore racing was divided up into production classes:
Production / letter P / stock boats and engines
Modified / letter M / modified boats and engines
Sports / letter S / Highly modified (speedmaster lowers)

and Open class:
Any boat or motor combination that did not exceed 50 feet and 1,000 cu inches of all motors combined.

Naturally the Open class got all the publicity in the national races. The only time you could shine was when they had a production only race. They had many of these all over the country and you could qualify for various region titles.

Racing in the production class was very tough racing. You had exactly the same sea condition as the open boats but you had a smaller boat to do it in. And there were many more boats to compete against.

When I moved up to open class, my first thoughts were "This is easy". There didn't seem to be the same fight that you had in the lower classes. Of course that changed as the seasons wore on, but it never really got to the intensity we had in production.

My point, yes Todo there is one, is that you should make your mind up to totally enjoy whatever you are doing with your boat today. Don't always be planning for "someday". When you get there it may not be as good as you thought it would be.

Fruitta,

I thought the speed limit thing was shot down last year?

If it goes through, it will be an end to an era.

Don't worry, if it does, you can keep your boat in Portsmouth and smash your banana around in the ocean with me... :evilb:

Top Banana,

My thoughts exactly, "Life is what happens to you, while you are waiting for something else"...
