What was stock OB power on a early 24 OB?

I hate to even explain where this question is coming from but...
What was consider stock OB power for a 78 '24?

I ran the NADA guide value on the 78 '24 and it came back with numbers in the $2500-$3000K range with power. I figured I'd use that as a tool to help the seller see that his price is a bit high, see if he wants to budge at all since in all likely hood I will be repowering and completely restoring the boat, etc.

His reply was, "how much do I value the 450 hp and K planes?"
Which is a little odd since the NADA value includes an unstated value for the power....

So, I'm curious to know what was considered stock power on a Banana Split built for pleasure?

Were K planes stock?
It sounds silly to even ask, but, how much would you value a set of circa 1985 K planes if they were on ebay?
Thanks
Evan

280 k-planes with the pumps and switches and all the rigging will run anywhere from $1000 to around $1500 on e-bay depending on codition. Not sure about older ones? Probably somwhere around $750.

I once saw a pair of 380 k-planes for 700 bucks! No pumps or rigging.

Tell him you will buy it minus the power, then drop a 900hp V8 with a blower in there and enjoy a happy life... :D :D

I agree with Air Dog. 900hp sounds great too.

But in reality they came from the factory with your choice of either a single 200hp or twin 200 hp outboards. But could be custom rigged if the owner chose to spend other amounts of money.

Anyone remember when the "Black Max" was introduced? Here's the transom of "Second Choice".

No I was using the NADA price to work him down a little since the boat needs A CIOMPLETE RESTORATION, and he has no Idea what the heck is on the boat, including the unlikelness of the motors being Merc 225s etc...

But the point is moot now since I bought a '20 Sleekcraft Tunnel Hull yesterday w 200 power, (not a rough water boat)

Thanks for all of the help

Actually the SST is really fun and does 70 mph w a ski prop on it, but I don't think I can boat sitting down, my back is trashed from 2 weeks of just little wakes.

I think I can turn the little boat pretty quick.

I'm talking to the guy with the Banana Again.

Here are the serial numbers off the Mercs, Anyone have an Idea what the year or HP is from the #s.

The serial number are: 597 6038 and 6029

I'll get the boat surveyed and compression check to see what kind of shape it's in.

Any ballpark numbers on how much I will pay for new hull paint, new interior upolstry, new guages and wiring, and at least a good tune up on the motors for this season and possibly a rebuild for seals and gaskets for next season?

Any other areas that need special attention on a 24 B Boat?
transoms? Floors?
