Buckets or Bolsters

At what point do bolsters become necessary?
# 14 has so odd, old bolsters but I'm thinking it may be better to replace them with buckets on pedestals rather then reskin the front bolsters. I'll mostly be using the boat in less then 2' river chop and maybe an occasional 3-4' day on the Columbia which can e Nasty or up on Puget Sound which is mostly protected, but I'm sure the Straits of Juan Defuca can pick up serious Pacific NW swell and chop. I'm thinking of making these work the little black buckets in a silver white like the red style retro vinyl, anyone live near East Haddam, CT. |

Evan, I like the bolsters myself. I just feel more comfortable in them. But sitting doesn't "sit" well with me, since I have back problems. Plus mine have the drop out bottoms, so If I do want to sit I can, kind of. My drive side only has a half bottom so its more like resting on it than sitting.
