Spy Photos - New 24' Deck Plug
3 Attachment(s)
Here's a few pics of the NEW 24' I/O model deck plug.
We are basically fixing the flaws; smoothing out the non-skid, flattening out the cockpit floor by doing away with the fuel tank access panel, and re-engineering the engine hatch. The edges of the deck still need to be rounded then the whole thing will be shot with duratec before making the mold etc. Enjoy!!! |

Who says the first one is his???? What about me??? Sure get a little long in the tooth around here and you get pushed out to pasture with maybe a set of oars. How about a big block from Dregz with an KAAMA drive system (you do remember those don't you?) with the colors of bright yellow deck and bottom and dark blue sides like the old Mark Donohue Cigarettes were...(you do remember Mark Donohue don't you?) |

Being an old Corvette and Camaro racer I DO remember Mark Donohue, and this year was the first Monterey Historic weekend I missed in many years, but moving away from the back yard of Laguna Seca has it's price,
Moving to the Puget Sound (next month) has it's Rewards!! I'm so over the top stoked about this move I can't even tell you if I wanted to. We can do a 8.5:1 pump gas 598 w Hydraulic Roller, Dart Carb motor that will dyno 725 HP/ 750 Tq without breaking a sweat. We can do the same motor at 10:1 w a solid roller and have 820 Dyno HP We have a bunch of other options too. I'll be in FL in Feb to go for a ride. Thanks Evan |

Thanks for all the compliments - we've been working very hard on this!
Yes - we started with a "sacrificial deck" here for the plug pictured above but I can assure you that my boat is still completely intact. As I said in the first post, we basically kept my father's original design but improved it by fixing the flaws. One of the biggest flaws was how the deck was a bit uneven in spots along the edges of the deckline. As you may be able to see from these original deck plug pictures (circa 1976), the problem originates here... Notice how clean and even the lines are on the new plug as compared to the old. |
Re: Spy Photos - New 24' Deck Plug
I had a couple of gallons of white and grey Duratech primer in the garage from when I was laying up custom corvette hoods and roof panels for the race car.
(expensive chit) I can't really tell uneven spots from those pics, can you describe better what we are looking at? Is it the area on the left rail infront of the tool, and the back left corner that kind of slope? Is your scanner back up? Thanks Evan |

Chatim Racing - looking great! Are you going into production? If so any details you can give?

We can upgrade on components if you like, or tune it down a bit with a hydraulic roller cam, Or go as large as say a 598 or 632ci and still make it a hydraulic roller and be about or over 700 HP and about 750+ ft lbs w the 598 and more w the 632 ci, depending on how it's built Marine 572 Pump Gas 725 Horse Power Dart Big M 10.2 Deck Nodular Caps 4.500 SRP Pistons Forged CH Flat Top 10.5:1 Eagle 4340 Forged Steel Internal Balance Crankshaft 4.5 Stroke BBC Eagle 4340 Forged Steel H Beam Rods with ARP L19 Rod bolts King Alecullar Pro Race Bearings Rods and Mains Mahle File Fit Performance Ring Set Balanced and Assembled Dart Pro 1 345 CC Alum Heads- Fully Ported and Flowed 118cc Chamber Assembled For .750 Max Lift Stainless Valves 1.63 Valve Springs Titanium Retainers 10 Degree Locks ARP Headstuds Comp Rocker Arms Mr. Gasket Solicore Head Gaskets or Equivalent Dart Single Plane Intake Manifold Comp Cams Solid Roller Custom Camshaft Comp Cams Solid Roller LIfter +.300 Melling High BVolume Oil Pump and Shaft Professional Products SFI Internal Balance Damper Moroso Pan Pete jackson Geardrive Aluminum Valve Covers Dyno+Tune |
