The 3rd Gen deck was officially finished today and we will be making the new mold next week (finally). I think these will give you all a pretty good idea of what the new boats will look like...

I Hope They Will Be Built Better Than The Ones That PORT EDGE WOOD Were Making Back When Good Luck

Re: New 24 deck plug finished! - Photos inside:
Looks great! Can't wait to see the finished product! When do you plan on unveiling it to the public?

Re: New 24 deck plug finished! - Photos inside:
Thanks for all the compliments!
Lightspeed - I couldn't agree with you more about Port Edgewood - not only have they tarnished the reputation of my father's design with poor build quality, they didn't even pay him all of the royalties due under the licensing agreement. These 3rd Gen boats will definitely be built better - all modern materials & methods (note the flange around the deck plug for bagging and probably someday infusion) No wood will be used. I want these to be strong, light, and built to last... |

I always liked your boats. When are they going to be
available? How will they be setup i/o or outboards ? pricing ? Daddio |
Re: New 24 deck plug finished! - Photos inside:
The first new boat should be done by Feb/March or so. We plan on making both models - I/O (pictured here) and Outboard on a Stainless Marine bracket (no more cutting of the transom for a well). As far as the pricing - have only built it on paper so far - I should have some better figures early Jan...
Anybody wanting more info mailed (as it becomes available) - just drop me a PM or e-mail ([email protected]) and I'll add you to the mailing list. |

Looks great! Do you have foot rests for the driver and passenger? I noticed the bulhead is flat in the front of the cockpit.

Chatim, I will be coming down to FL once or twice this winter, would it be possible to meet up sometime? I'd love meet you finally as well as see the new boats coming together. And maybe get some visual pointers on how to go about ripping mine apart and putting it back together?

Looks like you guys do some nice work! I see these being done non-stop at work and know there is alot of time involved in getting it done right.

Jr Sorry if it is an 88, that was long after we were involved with the company.....we can't give any insight as to what the layup was by then...it might be good or paper thin. Have somebody test this thing, a good surveyor or marine specialist before spending good money. |

jr We have teams that are talking to us now about racing our new 3rd gen boat in the SOB class next year. For us to get involved with a boat we didn't make, and is a question mark at best, as far as strength for racing goes, is something we would have no interest in at all. If anyone is serious about racing one of our boats, we have made some great improvements with our layup using Kevlar and Carbon Fiber which will reduce the weight by 1/3 over an old boat. We will work closely with any team, giving them all of our experience and contacts, to help them make our banana boats winners again. Please add up the real cost of re-doing an older boat vs a new boat and you will see there isn't much difference in the end, except you will have a lot more confidence in the newer boat. |

Thank you.....it is nice to know someone on the inside knows how much time and effort this really takes. Many times we stopped, and then waited another 24 hours, and when we came back and looked again, we said we can do just a little better, so let's not stop yet. We do feel now that it has been done the very best it can be. We want the owners of these boats to be able to pull up anywhere, and be recognized as having a super quality boat. My own personal 24 was built 30 years ago, but can still turn heads at yacht clubs and waterside restaurants. |
Re: New 24 deck plug finished! - Photos inside:
Keep us updated with the progress pictures! Funny thing is, a couple years ago I didnt even know what a plug was, or how a mold was made. Its a long process that probably most people in the marine industry dont even understand how much time is involved.
Where is the plant anyway? |
