Charlie does this qualify for the HORBA It is great to see that boat still alive and ready to go again. Those boats were built with all the resin squeezed down to the bottom at the end of a layup and left to cure overnight. The next morning the excess resin would be chipped out to keep the weight down .....and the process would be repeated until finished. That is why the boat is still sound and ready to race after so many years. Light and strong....just like Don taught me to build them. You have a direct link with Don right there in that layup. |
Great well I hope to restore it and who knows perhaps it will be ready to run w/ HORBA one of these days.
I also just found hull # 6 I think was it a yellow i/o built in 78 |

Top Banana
I just rember the last 3 numbers it was 678 It was a yellow hull with the low profile window. had a single io the yellow was gelcoat not paint. The name was predesesor or something. I am going to look in to buying this boat it is missing both the engine hatch and the deck hatch. Do you have these molds? |
I think we might have an extra engine hatch & floor hatch...
I think this must be hull # 16...? |
The mechanic just left and said all of the compresion was perfect and that the engines sounded good. "I don't think they will grenade anytime soon." was his quote.
I now have to replace the fuel lines and some of the steering lines. I hope to have her in the water by memorial day. |
old school , congratulations on your purchase . wish you alot of luck with the boat , welcome to the forum.
