Windshields
I'd like a bit of info . .
The windshields on the Banana 24 are made of what? Lexan? And how thick? I'm going to build something very similar for my Magnum 27, without a frame . . and I'd like it to be strong . . |

Do you find that the acrylic lasts well in the sun?
I desire to make mine a single piece across the front, with a bend at the peak of the vee, I've worked with Lexan, how difficult is it with acrylic and do you believe it will still be strong enough? Does your new boat have support frames in the center . . ?pictures don't look like it . . Thank you!!! Mario L. |
If you guys want a lexan polycarbonate windshield, we make them here at loto at Percys optical, we just made a full wrap around for a 40 Skater, bulletproof and crystal clear.

PS, I now see that the door is also made of the samw stuff, I'll look into changing that over too! Any Idea on the prices for doing so? |

Can't wait to see those pictures! Try shooting a picture from behind the sterring wheel looking through the windshield so we can see the clarity (be extra daring and put some text behind the windshield so we can read it - true test of optics). Don't just shoot the straightest/flat part of the windshield, make sure to shoot the radius/bend/corners of it. I can post mine if you want some examples of how to do it and see true clarity. I think our number is on your auto dial so just give us a call if you need more help. Just dont ask me to sell you my customers tooling again because the answer is still the same "WE DON'T SELL OUR CLIENT'S TOOLING"! Post those pics if you dare! LOL! |

Yes Jim, show us your Skater Windshield. I would love to see what you finally came up with after all the requests you made from Aero Marine, the REAL Skater windshield manufacturer.

I'm going to look into one too, as well as the V-Berth entry cover, mine is made of teak but I like the dark glass look. BTW, does it come tinted?

Thanks anyway top Banana! The Bit.h slap was PUMPKI N getting slapped by the women's chain he was trying to yank telling her that he was the LOTO Skater dealer, a boat manufacturer and so on and so on so he could try to get her to back door a set of Skaters windscreens for his boat. Now he wants to come on the net as a manufacturer???? Apparently her company has integrity! I was not nor never speaking of Mr. McCarthy in a negative manner. Sorry for the confusion Charley. |

Wow, I don't believe I asked for anyones tooling, to get a perfect fit I decided that the windshield needed to be built locally, so I could adjust if needed, I also wanted a lexan polycarbonate windshield instead of acrylic, for safety and strength. I'm extremely happy with the clarity of the windshields, they are as clear as my car windshield. The local optics company is building products for Harley Davidson, Bobcat, Caterpillar, Nascar, to name a few. They have a great reputation and offer the highest optic clarity in the industry. I'll be happy to post pics when my boat is completed.
Today is a day of rest, but tomorrow is back to work and I promise to review all of your email requests and to be clear I have all of them that you sent from the Skater to Spectre projects. You were also sent photos as I send them to potential clients who are serious about using Aero Marine Products. Thank goodness I spoke to Mr. Conrad before sending you anything and verified that he did not have any interest in you splashing his windshield. Sounds like you are saying you only wanted to do one boat but your other posts say differently.... Everyone has to learn from someone but I just prefer to know when I am dealing with a "marine optic manufacturer". LOL! Speaking of Nascar, I just finished a (Acrylic Roof) Chevy Nomad for a gentleman named Rusty Wallace. People can check out the build on "Street Customs" TV show in May. We do quite a bit of work for West Coast Customs and TLC/Discovery channel. You should check it out! |

Carman,no need to be so defensive. I have a Skater and working on a 36 Spectre both needing windshields. I called Scott because I liked the look of the 32's windshield, he said you made them and it was ok to call you to purchase one. I splashed nothing. between the engineers and myself we designed a new windshield, plug, mould, had it digitized, cnc'd, filed and built from scratch out of ballistic lexan with a proprietary scratch resistant film, uv inhibitors, to fit, retrofit config's of the canopy shape on most boats.you have a good product but I wanted something that could'nt shatter if hit.If the clarity of Percys windshields are good enough for Jeff Gordan and Rick Hendricks than they are good enough for me. I never questioned your product, this is not a challenge or contest here and if you took it that way I'm sorry, best of luck.

I cant post pics here, I posted them on boatfreaks, my windshield was my design from scratch, not a skater, nota spectre, I started with f16 canopys, lexan, screws, foam rigid, spray, alot of bondo, sanding, fiberglass, epoxy resin, flock, release, release wax, built the plug, mould, thetub, cast, digitized, cnc'd, filed, I've spent over 150 hours and nearly 15k on the windshield, It is my design for oem replacement applications of f 16 canopys on many boats, they are made of lexan not acrylic like nearly all others are made from, again Rik, I respect you and your business, just make sure you have the facts before you put someone down or make a false assumption, this was a lot of hard work and a very seccessful project, thats it, Jim

And how does this thread have anything more to do with Bananas??.....either move it or delete it.

Now that the dust seems to have settled, I'd like to humbly say that we made the windshield and hatch on the Banana boat and we think it looks mighty fine...
Charlie will be delighted to offer them. |
