16 to 22ft Boats
 

Hey Top Banana,

I checked out Cigarette's web page and I suspect they have not produced the 20ft for quite some time now. Heck the smallest boat they show these days is a 38ft.

I've also heard rumors that Donzi will now longer produce the 16ft and 18ft Classics and the 22ft may also go away soon too.

Do you have any thoughts of adding smaller boats to your Banana Boat line?

I've owned a Donzi 18' Classic and a 20' Minx in the past. I have been eyeing a couple of 20' Cigs but for the price the newer ones go for you could buy any number of brand new boats.

And there is the problem........builders found out that you really can't make any money on the smaller boats.....so, they stopped making them.

We could pull a 20 from the mold with cut down sides, but it would be a one off that would have to be custom built. Anything is possible if the interest is there $$$$.

It's too bad the classic little boats are not being built anymore.

Does the 20' Cig mold still exists?
I guess you're suggesting you could build a 20' from your 24' mold.

I am in the market for a little classic to run the CT river and add to the mix.
I guess it will be an 18' Donzi as there are a few out there for a reasonable cost.

Your probably better off money wise, to find a clean used boat as compared to a new one.

I still would like to build a sit down 22 footer for myself out of the 24 mold.

I would cut the sides down to the first break under the rubrail and power it with a sterndrive...probably a 496HO with the CMI improvements up to 500 HP.

Seating would probably be the classic 2 in front and three in rear bench seat with a sunpad on the engine hatch. Low windscreen on a perfectly flat deck with no hatch or rail.

Tuff does it with their 27 footer, (below) nice and low to the water, brings back memories of when I first started boatng, just low simple boats, but fast.

That Tuff28 is a great looking hull. and very fast- 90+ with a stock 525.
I prefer the low/simple boats too.

Don had the granddaddy of them all right here....sides up, sides down, new deck here, new deck there.....on and on and on.

We are all grateful this boat came along and we have all enjoyed the many grandchildren ever since.

Don was definatly the Great Granddaddy of alot of boats ! I have enjoyed alot of days on the lake in one of his designs.

Pat, imo the new 21 sut is the sweetest little one out there.

You could always get a 21SB, progression, or a little activator.

I'm sure you know all this though.
