Just picked this up and she looks good and runs pretty solid in the inner coastal - cant wait for the ocean run - my mechanic loves her..

Cool boat!

phragle 03-21-2014 02:31 PM

looks nice and clean

OLD MAN 03-21-2014 03:13 PM

BV, nice looking boat but your top deck does not look like a Banana. Also it looks like a 24x7 not a 24x8. Might be worth checking out further. Ok.

SkaterMike82 03-22-2014 09:06 AM

Looks good but definitely not a banana. Looks like a 24 Pantera SE if not one of the 100's of 24x7. If it's a Pantera, you did good depending what you paid.

tangent70 03-24-2014 02:27 PM

Not a pantera or a banana. Transom is wrong. The transom has the formula "bump". Either way nice looking boat. Check the HIN number

Thanks for the comments all -
Oh boy....well the title did say home made..i figured this was someone prior hiding value for tax/tag/title fees..i paid $8.5k for her.
Yes she is narrow like an older cig boat with the bimini top measuring 6' wide so i am guessing its a 7' beam.
Drive looks clean and newer, power assisted steering, tabs and recent paint, claw headers, 750dp Holly and new bolsters / interior, new 70 gal fuel tank.

boat looks just like this one:

Last count I heard was over 27 boat companies made a 24X 6 boat from those splashed original designs.

This design has been a good design for certain boating conditions. It also enabled a lot of people to enjoy high performance boating on a modest budget. Enjoy the boat and set your eye on the next bigger boat you want, exactly the same as the rest of us. In the end the desire for a bigger boat never ends.

mbobb 08-18-2014 11:20 AM

It looks like a cool boat for that price! I think the main 2 that had that style windshield were the SE Pantera's and the Python's but if it's an '85 I don't think the Python's had windshields back then. Tough to tell in the pics but the Pythons had a lot of space between the front and back seats that most others didn't. Looks like someone did some work to it with the Bravo upgrade. On a side note are you able to dock it with that steering setup? It looks like there's not much movement in the steering ram with how tight it's mounted to the outdrive.

the desire for a bigger boat never ends.. listen to Charlie... I know meeting him again on Thursday, went from 24 to 24 to 31 now maybe 41.... boat does look nice enjoy

Never seen a 24/7 with the little Formula /Nova transom bump on it before. Wonder why that was added into the mold

mrv8outboard 08-19-2014 04:16 PM

The bump in the transom was added because it was a straight shaft boat as originally designed. The bump give you a flat surface to install sterndrive gimble housings.

Ahh the 12 degrees negative or whatever that is needed. That makes sense, always wonderd about that bump.

Is this the only 24/7 i have seen with it or did i miss it on all the others ?

If not this must have come from one of the earlier molds.

mbobb 08-19-2014 09:20 PM

There was a 24 for sale recently in Long Island with that transom bump.....I think it was listed as an Arkma or something like that
