Re: 2002 45' Donzi Stolen
Always register your MerCruiser serial numbers with MerCruiser if an engine or outdrive is stolen. If it pops-up in the system later for whatever reason you have a chance of recovering your merchandise.
Beware of buying anything where the numbers have been obscured or defaced. Years ago I uncovered a boat theft ring because I called Regal for an engine number for a survey. Remember, if you buy something stolen you will be out the money if it is recovered, so BUYER BEWARE! |
Re: 2002 45' Donzi Stolen
I seriously doubt the boat is very far from where it was stolen, it almost had to be preplanned, and the theif knowing how large the boat was had to have planned ahead of time to hide it somewhere, check every single warehouse, and storage rental business within a 10-20 mile radius. I just thing some one would have seen if it it traveled far. I would start by calling all the large storage rental businesses in the area and ask if they have rented anything. Good Luck and I sure hope it turns up. :(

Re: 2002 45' Donzi Stolen
Very sad, I realize that it is good to have a stolen section, but i think that someone ought to make a suggestion that when an offshore boat, especially a high profile boat like this is stolen, that OSO can at give it a sticky in the general section for a few weeks. Sort of like an Amber alert, I am not sure how many members view this forum as frequently as they do the GD yet this is something that needs the most amount of eyes in the quickest amount of time. just MHO :D

Re: 2002 45' Donzi Stolen
like I said before a boat this size, and this much $$$ it should be mandatory that it has Lo-Jack. This is just another reason why we pay so much for boat Insurance.

Re: 2002 45' Donzi Stolen
Black Thunder has had 1 ton dually's stolen for 2 years in a row while at the Miami boat show. The local police say that large vehicles are stolen, loaded in to nearby containers at the port, and then gone by the next day. Keep an eye at the port. Most containers are 20' or 40' long, so the longer extended 50' to 60' containers are rare and will be easier to locate.

They had that story about the guy who had his covette stolen over 30 years ago. They caught it trying to leave the USA in a cargo container over 30 years later
