I can't believe Suffolk cops actually busted somebody for something other than DWI. I thought that they just parked at deadends and counted their money

Federal investigators said they have busted a boat theft ring and indicted five suspects after an investigation that began in Jacksonville.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said the suspects were stealing high-performance boats and then selling them.

The case originally began when Jacksonville Beach police investigated a boat theft. They contacted other agencies, dealing with similar thefts.

Prosecutors said the suspects took boats from several places around Florida, and from Southern Georgia, and moved them to the Miami area. They said the defendants changed the boat identification numbers, then fraudulently registered the boats.

The defendants allegedly sold most of the boats, but kept some for their own use.

Investigators said they've recovered a total of 38 stolen boats with a total value of $4 million.
Rice Hauler was NOT included in the bust

LAW & DISORDER: 38 stolen boats are recovered

Five people from Miami and Hialeah were charged in the thefts.

The Times-Union

Thirty-eight stolen boats have been recovered in a two-state theft-ring investigation that included the Jacksonville Beach Police Department.

The U.S. Attorney's Office unsealed two indictments Friday charging five people in the ring. Ariel Martinez, 30, and Gilberto Garcia, 32, both of Hialeah, and Manuel Moure, 31, of Miami were charged with conspiracy to transport and possess boats in interstate commerce, alter their hull numbers and fraudulently obtain titles and registrations.

Ruben Thames, 29, and Orestes Armenteros, 54, both of Miami, were charged with possession of stolen boats that had been transported in interstate commerce.

The high-performance boats were stolen from several locations throughout Florida and Southern Georgia and transported to Miami. They included a 33-foot Hydra-Sports worth about $180,000, a 35-foot Donzi at $170,000, a 33-foot Cigarette at $130,000 and a 31-foot Contender worth about $115,000.

The FBI, Coast Guard and Broward County Sheriff's Office also were a part of the investigation.

take that $300 per moth you get and give it to some crack heads to go beat his ass every month.
That would be justice.

Thumbs up

That's great news. We had a rash of stereo thefts in our marina last week. Pretty ballsy since we have many people that actually live in their condos. Really just pisses you off. I had a truck stolen years ago. It was recovered but I didn't want the MF back. Kinda makes you feel violated.
