Beware Of Competition Marine
 

Located near St Charles, MO they are trying to bill my buddy for $34k on a rebuild project that was quoted $18k. Now additional work was done to the tune of $3-4k. The boat was picked up in December, promised by May 1, now July 1 and another $12k appears on the bill. Another case of a shop trying to screw a guy.

it would be interesting to hear some specifics and the other side of the story.

No doubt I just finish a project that started out with a twin engine rebuild at about 10K and finished with 150K boat rebuild.......... my customer is happy.

A number of years ago, I brought my 28 Cigarette there for service, 2 weeks later it was still sitting in their lot, not in a locked area, not chained down, not covered.... I took it home and found a different shop. Later I started to hear simular horror stories like the one posted here.

Stay away from them.

Horrible to deal with and will screw you every chance they can. Never on time. I have quite a few horror story's about them. Two other friends of mine used them and had bad luck with them. They lie through their teeth. STAY AWAY!!!!!

Any facts or just accusations

they have been around along time and can do good work . Customer service is not there strong point and they are way expensive. but thats stl boat work one of the reasons my engines are in Michigan

They have lost me as a customer, I asked for a quote to convert my boat for tripple to staggered and Jeff told me he would get back to me by the end of the day with a quote.....and that was three weeks ago. I have called and left 10 messages and no calls back. After I hung up the phone the other day leaving my last message I thought to myself "If they don't have the time to return a call regarding a large job, is this the place I want working on my boat 2 1/2 months from boating season?"

I really would like to stay somewhat local, but if I have to travel I guess I will.

always get it in writing, ive learned the hard way. cost and completion date. (GET IT IN INK )

When I can’t do my own work I will stop owning boats that need work.
And johnny is right put it on paper.

Jeff is sharp as a tack and have used them b4 and they do great work but is price is what your after then there not for you,i have heard Jeff tell customers if you need to ask the price were not the shop for you .

They should have a sign made up that says that. I bet the customers will run in there lmao!!

Stopped in a few months ago & they have no shortage of work ,lots of repeat customers and they build some kick a$$ motors .Guess they are proud of there work and experience like other shops

I hear ya, i'm not here to side in any way. I was just commenting on the "heard Jeff tell customers if you need to ask the price were not the shop for you ." portion.

Check with Complete Marine in St. Charles, MO... Dewayne and Zeke can handle anything and will treat you right. Good guys and boaters, too!

Lost customers next time quote the real price!!Change that and customers will return!Good post!

No Sir ,have seen them put out some killer motors Hollow Point ran awesome & David Bs boat ran great as well .i was just saying i would use them again just you can't have a burger budget and want Surf & Turf.

I love surf & turf but have been eating a lot of burgers lately.

I found out over past few months I can not afford myself.

Why pay for surf and turf with a burger reputation ? There prices are higher than the big guys. I would rather pay less to use a shop with lots of Race engines out there than pay more for a shop with Some pleasure boats running good. Jmo

This is one of the worst shops ever. Chip is the biggest Crook and POS I know. Stay away if you value your money or boating time.
