borderline824 Thornton Cutchin
Does anyone know borderline824 Thornton Cutchin? He sold me a set of stainless marine dry risers that were advertised for a bravo app. but they don't fit, think they are for a TRS setup. I asked for a refund and he refused so beware of dealing with him. http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...ne-risers.html

I guess it's up to him if he wants to do a refund. What do you hope to accomplish with this thread? |
The TRS are WAY longer, requiring the exhaust to be cut and modified to fit a Bravo app. I know this, because I had the same thing happen to me. Bought a set advertised (here on OSO) as dry Bravos, motors were out of my boat at the time so I couldn't really measure, they turned out to be TRS. My builder spent a couple days (and quite a few of my dollars) cutting and rewelding to get them to fit. Live and learn, I guess.
|
If you click the link and read what you advertised it says they are for a BRAVO. The only measerement that you gave me was the length.

What is the difference between Bravo and TRS as far as risers are concerned. I really have no idea.......

Yeah - you shoudl refund his money if you advertised them as Bravo's (which you did) and they were anything other.
Even if it was a mistake on your end eat the shipping costs and give the man his money back. Disclaimer - these threads always deteriorate and more comes out, so...... |
I admit, I'd have done something similar as far as outing on the board, but I did the deal last November and only caught on to the mistake when the exhaust was going on in May...so I figured my window of complaint has pretty much closed. I'd say give the man his money back.
|
They knew that more buyers for bravo he scammed ya hoping you'd eat it sue him!
|
Add state it there in black and white, for Bravo. I agree. Sue the Ferktard!
|
seems kind of funny that he is looking for stainless marine dry risers after he sold me a set look at post #6 http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...ne-wanted.html
|
You have that it was for bravos on paper and documented. Small claims court = easy win

Wrong again, you were given all the measurements over the telephone BEFORE you purchased them so that you could check your transom locations.. You contacted me again a few days later and said you wanted them. Your not telling the entire story, you were not scammed the details were provided to you as to what these were. I even gave you Jerry at Stainless Marine's contact info so you could obtain the layout and sketch for measuring your transom outlet height. Its funny you leave all of that part out of the story. I have made offers/suggestions on what to do. You have never responded on them. So instead of dealing directly with me you choose to complain about your dealings with me, giving one sided information that leads to no benefit or solution. Just wanted to set the record straight on that. You made a mistake by purchasing them, but you were given all info on the tubes to check your locations plus ample time to do so before you purchased.
Stainless Marine Risers Long risers through transom, brand new for bravo, make an offer.. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You really should give his money back. Relist them for what they really are and move on with your life. If I sold you a Ford and when it arrived it was really a Toyota even though I told you it was a Ford and sent you measurements, would you except it?:evilb: |
I like the Ford/Toyota scenario. :drink:
|
Give him the money back...you did advertise them as bravo and they will not fit a bravo app.

He has it in writing that it was for Bravos.
I had the samething happen to me once. I bought a motorcycle project, in the classified it said it was a 5 years newer then it actually was. After I bought it and went to buy parts for it I found out they wouldn't fit because the bike was older. I called the guy and told him he falsely represented the bike and he said it was my problem and hung up on me. I took the classified ad into small claims court with me and walked out with the money owed, less than 30 minutes later. Guy claimed that it was a misprint and judge said it didn't matter because he did not address the issue when I was buying. He has it documented that they are for Bravos no matter what measurements you gave him. You never told him in the phone call that they were NOT for Bravos. This whole time you represented them as Bravos and did not correct the issue. It is your fault for either not knowing what you were selling or trying to pull one over on someone. This is a clear cut easy win in small claims court. |

"The risers measure 33' in length total this is from the front of the riser elbow all the way to the tip". The only time I herd anything about Jerry from Stainless Marine is when you replied with this "How large are your transom openings? If you did not have full length tails then you will have to open up the holes. Every boat is different, so you may have to go with a slightly larger or smaller sealing rings etc. Also Jerry at Stainless Marine is very knowledgeable on the installations of these."[/quote] Here is what your offer/suggestions were "Sorry they didnt work out, If you dont want them just simply re-post them with the measurements etc, to get your money back on them. Stainless marine can also cut, extend, modify these dry tubes to fit any application. And would still be cheaper than buying the new sets." I tried dealing with you direct sent you my number and you would not call all you would do was send a PM. All of these quotes were copied frm PM's that you sent me. |

The answer to all of the above is no. I am not on OSO that much at all anymore. You could have picked up the telephone and called me at anytime. Instead you publish demeaning information claiming I am a scam artist and so fourth. Never had any intention on scamming anyone, I am not a marine retailer, I am an individual who happened to obtain these parts as part of another bulk purchase. I did not need them so decided to sell them on OSO from what information I obtained through calling the manufacturer they were for a bravo type set up. I listed them as such and so that was my mistake as to not being 100% sure. That was the reason I wanted you to check everything before you bought them. Thats pretty nice for a scam artist huh? You have never been honest about that part of it. You totally ignored that, and acted like you did not know what you were getting even though we had discussed it. I admit to my mistakes so I think that you should as well, I apologize that this turned out this way. I have contacted OSO as well as their web hosting in reference to this post containing libel, to protect my cilvil rights. No authorization or proof was obtained to use my name email etc. for public viewing on the internet. I will send you over a UPS label to return the pipes, upon inspection of them you will be refunded your purchase price.

I don't have your phone number or I would have called you. I sent you a PM on 6-13 with my number asking you to call or send me your number so I could call and you didn't do either. I don't have your e-mail i didn't save it when you sent the pic of risers. You did apologize but made it clear you would not refund my money so I tried paypal but they would not do anything. I don't know that it is aginst the law to put your name on the internet.

Couple points. These very well may have been for a bravo boat just customized by the previous owner. I don't think that they are long enough for TRS.
Any time you get a PM on this web site you also get an email that tells you that a PM was sent to you. Jon |
Resolved, thanks OSO
