how do I post a skumbag on the net

I have just had an insurance company (franchise owned) cancel my wifes life insurance pollicy. I had 9 pollicies with The Co-Operators insurance company in Sarnia Ontario owned by this duchebag Franco Fillia. After 12 yrs we where up for renual. We where honest and told him about her desease(disclosure) he raised her policy payment (no problem). Six months later I was notified that her policy was terminated due to lack of funds in the bank when payment was due. All of the other policies, 8, where good an paid for the ony one was my wifes(go figure). This guy for the last 12 yrs played my frend, not close but would always play the roll, big phony smile and small talk. My fault for not having all the $$$ in the acount, was $4 shy for one month. Why didn't he phone me or make sure it was one of the other policies that didn't go through? Oh yeah, cause he's a douchbag insurance skum sucking a$$wipe of who I will see soon! But for now where is or what is the best internet site to get started?

If he raised the premium on your wife's policy and you accepted and paid it, what advantage would he gain by cancelling it? I would think he's making money off of it or they wouldn't have wrote the business. Did you call him and talk to him about it? It's awful harsh of you to blast the guy when at the end of the day your just as responsible for the dropping of the policy. Are you a scumbag for having insufficient funds in an account where you know an important insurance policy is drawn out of?

His gain, if she dies in a few more years he/his company pays $400,000. Yes I called him and asked why he didn't notify me or make sure her policy was paid for and miss a payment on a car or house payment, he just said that wasn't his responsibility. You figure after 12-13yrs of not ever missing a premium payment he would have the decency to drop me a line. By the way, I bet by your line of questions you too are also in insurance and therfore my description of him also applies to you:grinser010:

In the Michigan you can have it reinststed if your under 30 days past due. maybe it is the same for you? Worth a shot anyways.

Andy 10-03-2011 02:40 PM

Thanx Garry, he didn't notify me for 35 days. Since its an automatic bank withdrawl and I topped up the acount a few days later I didn't know there was an overdraw.

I dont think a franchise gains anything but a commission on a new policy or smaller comission on a renewal - This franchise doesn't get 400 or save 400K if your wife dies.

If you disclose what will be an ongoing problem requiring treatment or continuous medicine you bet you'll see a raise in premiums. No insurance company wants an pre existing condition and they dont want ANY conditions - all they want are healthy people period and will look for any way you can imagine to drop you once you disclose.

You created an opening for them to dump you 2 ways.
1. by not funding the account with enough money
2. and not checking it for over a month.

Its true your insurance agent may be a douchebag for not pro-actively calling you- but you F-ed up on a critically important responsibility.

All you can do is pull all your remaining policies from this guy and give them to someone new

Bummer....

Not in the insurance business Andy, and I hope things work out for you and your wife. I just thought your call out on this agent (who may have no control over the cancellation and you played a direct roll in) was a bit harsh.

I realize it was and is my fault for not checking the acount, that is not my beef. Why I'm pissed is because I have had beers with him and sent him at liest 40 to 50 private and business acounts over the years. He knows my wife and has used her photograph studio for pictures in the past. Not one call? Myself and nine of my buds have switched over to another insurance company. Douchebag through and through! I need to tell others and figured the net is where to start.

fireboatpilot 10-03-2011 03:48 PM

What kind of crappy banl acct doesn't have overdraft protection for a $4. overdrawl? How come your bank didn't notify you that there was a bounced check basically. Maybe a call directly to the carrier and cut out the middle man, try to deal with their PR department. Good luck, hope and prayers are with your wife and you.

innerrage 10-03-2011 03:50 PM

like they say what comes around goes around. stay positive and cancell all your accounts, put a write up in the local paper as to what happend, good luck hope your wife is doing okay.

Uncle Dave 10-03-2011 04:05 PM

Guy sounds like a Douche- Id ask him straight up why he didnt help you out when you call him to remove your business.

True friends in business are rare- he sounds pretty fairweather.

andy,it is true that you are partially to blame, that being said,my ins agent has called me a couple times when i had a similar situiation,to remind me that i overlooked making a premium payment.i believe a good agent could take 2 minutes to make a call, also, your bank should have paid and charged you accordingly.i hope your wife is ok.if i were you id be changing banks today.just my 2 cents worth.

Snoworks 10-03-2011 08:52 PM

I guess the real reason he is pissed is because he know's the insurance guy did not call him because of his wifes "condition". You all know that there would be a call if there was no history of illness.

wannabe 10-03-2011 09:05 PM

Andy: I feel your pain, my wife had non hodgkins lymphoma 3 years ago and I make sure her policy is paid (annual payment) . Unfortunately you must be careful because the agent was within his rights. He is a dbag, ok. Just don't slander him. Find your wife some other insurance.

Depending on the arangement he has with the company he represents, he may not have had any more of an idea of the problem than you did. More and more agents these days let the company service the polices they sell and have nothign to do with it and little to no control over what may happen later. He may have to relly on the company notifiying him of the issue and they maynot have. Not saying he is without fault, but there are always three sides to a story.

Centsless 10-09-2011 09:39 AM

this guy is only an agent representing a larger company
i guarantee he personally didnt know the payment was overdue
the insurance company itself canceled , they were just waiting for a reason... in canada..... they cant just cancel a preexisting policy if you get sick but instead they wait patiently for any reason to do do like a missed premium
try and find a different insurance company
good luck to you and yours

thirdchildhood 10-09-2011 09:47 AM

You got screwed and there is probably nothing you can do about it except pull all of your insurance out of his company and tell your friends about him. Insurance is a big racket now. If you have to make a boat claim, I hope you are not with Progressive....

I agree. Automatic premium payments have nothing to do with the agency.
He wouldnt know.

As far as wandering around to find a new agent so you can get even with him............the insurance world is tight tight tight. It wouldnt surprise me to know that the other insurance companies know you were cancelled for non payment. I'd be careful to not burn bridges.

Going on the internet to slag the wrong guy probably wont help if other agents in town see that either.

I'd offer to prepay the next couple of years on the policy if its that important to you. Get an apology letter from your bank manager and take it directly to the insurance company.

kilrbusa 10-10-2011 04:52 PM

Wouldnt the ins co send your a cancellation letter? in some states its mandatory to send a letter notifying your policy will be terminated in X amount of days. Your agent has no control of which policy gets paid in any sequence.

Hope your wife is feeling better.

Ran into that little balless dik slurper at a frends bar. Didn't make a scene. Spoke to him in his hair filled ear. He said he didn't know. His salesman said he did. Told him what the future holds. He looked very upset. My wife is sick. She will not get better. She hurts every day. She is noninsurable!! The insurance money would of helped. Nobody can help him.
