Seller beware Nelson Wease HCPC inc.
I don't know his oso user name as he emailed me to purchase the intake.
I listed a hp500 intake in the swap shop, I personally took it off of a running engine. No leaks no corrosion. The front of the intake was drilled and tapped for the bypass hose from the circulating pump. The threads were cut to 3/8" npt and was not the best job I have seen but they sealed. It's pipe thread, has to be pretty bad not to seal. Nelson contacted me saying he was unhappy with the condition of these threads. I said "ok send it back I'll refund" He wanted to have a machine shop look at it. Now maybe it's just me but if you can't handle cleaning up threads in a hole with a tap you don't belong swapping an intake yourself. He informed me the machine shop wanted 1 hour labor just to look at it. Has anyone ever gone to a shop and been told there is a charge just to look at something ? I never have. Next I offered to send him a tap so he could retap the hole. He declined. Then he wanted a refund before he would return the intake. Again maybe it's me but if summit or jegs ships a damaged item they charge you for another one and then refund you when they receive the damaged item back. Why should I do any differently? Long story short, paypal dispute was filed by his credit card company and I'm out $250 and the intake. Real nice how through 10 minutes of contacting paypal he gets a free intake and I get it shoved up my a$$ |
I had no problem using them. They weren't that bad. Not a factory job but nothing crazy. He asked about the bolt holes which were fine. My problem with this is that he now keeps the intake and the money. I had no problem refunding as soon as he gave me a tracking number saying it was shipped back. Thats all. Wasn't even going to wait to get it back. Just wanted to know it was coming.

Thats why i hate paypal, it will get you screwed over,

some people think they should get brand new parts at used prices,in a case like this you maybe should have emailed him a picture, but you offered a refund and he still did a dispute with paypal, what a dick, after seeing how paypal screws sellers lately,im not going to use paypal anymore unless i have had dealings with the buyer before.where does this guy live?

it would be no different if you accepted credit cards yourself some credit card companies will let you do a chargeback up to a year from the date of the transaction it is not paypal it is his credit card company paypal is just the middleman that allows you to accept a credit card payment

This is what got me in trouble with the swap shop. I think people are looking for a clean issue free quality product for nice boats. Offering a refund seemed like it was not good enough here. Offering repair parts was not good enough either.
I hate to bring this up but, your buddy Mike was not happy with a refund when he felt I sold him something not up to par (need I remind that you and him looked at them first before paying). Although we where in the end (with me sending a check) able to resolve the issue to both of our satisfaction. I would say take it as a lesson (or take it to small claims court). It is not worth the aggrivation and possibly making yourself look bad in the process. You guys seem to me are reasonable and willing to work an issue out. Parts seem to bring more money here on OSO, than they do on eBay. Don't let one issue consume you. |

Points
OSO needs to develop a point system for buyers and sellers, this would allow the buyer or seller to make up his own mind. If I never sell anything on OSO, I won't have a rating as a buyer. If I buy and have successful transactions I should receive a point. Or, someone start a sticky for trusted buyers, and of course the opposite sticky for those to stay away from. There was a thread for trusted individuals, but threads get to be long reading. Just a starting thought, my .02
