Shouldnt he be bonded/insured or something like that just incase something like this happens??? The money was in his possession, he failed to properly secure it.

Florida law is you only need a $25,000 bond to be an active broker

$25k ain't enough to cover this hot mess

You have to tread carefully, my advice would be to seek an attorney. As much as it sucks, hiding the boat if they come looking for it will get you in trouble. Don't go from being the victim to hiding property, that's a whole diff can of worms. Your best bet is to be proactive and with any luck he will produce the coin to at least get your title, but unfortunately someone else will get hung out.

Sadly, you are absolutely correct.

I just don't understand your logic. You're posting this on the internet so they can track it. And what good does it do to hide the boat, you can't use it.
The only person you're fooling is yourself, you really should have done your homework before putting out the cash .I feel sorry for you because I've seen this happen before, but I don't see a good ending for you.

I really think when you start talking boats or other things that cost as much as houses there should be title insurance, like in buying a house....

This is the reason I have been sitting on my hands for so long before buying again. This happened to me twice in different ways.

It's going to suck regardless.
