Key bank

Long story short, save your time and efforts and never do any business with key bank. Ever heard of holding a wire transfer 5 days? Me either. Returning a wire transfer because it was "too much over the loan payoff"? Me either. How about taking 7-10 business days to provide a release of lean AFTER the wire transfer clears 5 business days later? (For those counting, that's 12-15 business days... THREE WEEKS) They fully expect you are OK waiting almost a month to take possession of your property you just paid six figured for...

If anyone from key bank is reading, wake up.

I've read similar regarding Key bank before.

Yes. Chase Bank 3 years ago told me 10 days when I walked in two days before the closing on my house. I closed the account and went to TD. MY BUSINESS bank is first niagara. Which is being taken over by Key Bank.

Had a loan with key bank years ago, transferred to my credit union.

Took almost a year to get them to send a release of mortgage to the Coast Guard. (Documented boat)

Most Banks are far from perfect. One step above DMVs

I re-fied a home and had a equity line through KEY. They would not subordinate the loan to the new mortgage company. they wanted to become first lean holder on the home for a 15k balance. Took months to get worked out. Closed out the line and never went back!! Awful to deal with.

I see I'm not alone. I have never in my life heard of "policies" so unreasonable as theirs. I can't imagine actually sitting down and writing these policies without something going off in my head thinking, "wow, am I being a complete douche bag right now?"

All National chain banks seem to be this way....

AJ POWERPLAY 08-19-2016 03:30 PM

This one takes it to another level. It's almost like they are being inconvenienced by having to perform bank duties. I mean, 3 weeks to verify an account is paid in full, enter a name into a generic lien release form that is pre-written up, and slide that piece of paper into an envelope?? A five minute job IF you're taking your time.
OH- and they don't fax or email, if you would like documents communicated that way, they'd be glad for you to submit a written letter explaining why you need it done that way, but they have 7-10 business days to "process the letter" from when they receive it. :hitfan:

Wait till they tell you that you are paying interest till the letter is fully executed!

Banks and insurance companies.... They need bailouts dude! What would we ever do without them?

Been with a Credit Union for 30+ years. Awesome people that treat you like a human, not a number.

I had a bad experience with Genisys Credit Union. Thought CU was the way to go. Now I'm back with Bank of America, PNC Bank and TCF Bank. Screw credit unions. Dodd-Frank Act screwed a lot of things up but if you make some noise you can still get good service from a bank.

My experience with Key was awesome. Zero complaints. This said, a buddy used them and they jacked him around for 3 weeks and then went to another lender and closed his deal in 3 days.

If you are former military, check out Pen Fed credit union. They are awsome and very competitive rates.

They are not trying to be awful to deal with. The polices are in place to protect the bank. We are not talking about small time scams here. There are global organized crime syndicates with glorious (literal) programs on how to scam the banks out of money. This "time padding" is them crossing their "T"s and dotting their "I"s. It sucks, but that's how banking is now. And while it's an inconvenience to the end user; you sure don't want to be ANY party to the converse.

I had great dealings with Key Bank. They actually loaned me more than NADA of my boat because it had newer power. Most banks simply go on NADA. It was a rather easy process too. Never went to the bank until it was time for a signature. Once we went in and signed paperwork, seller had his money within minutes.... Sorry you had bad experience with them AJ

RT930turbo 08-22-2016 01:54 PM

I have to admit I've used them twice, and the experience has been good overall. They are a little slow sometimes, but they explained that to me up front. Both deals were done within a week. Never an issue with the wire transfer or funds.
