fedex lost my package

i recently sold an intake manifold to another oso member, after his check cleared my bank i took the package to fedex to ship it to him, long story short fedex lost the package and is going to send me a check for the declared value[200 bucks]plus the shipping charge.now i am going to send the buyer his 200 bucks back but i am out a 200 dollar item,to me this just doe,s not seem fair.from now on i will double the declared value so if it ever happens again i am not out for the value of the item.ok,done with my rant now.

SB 05-07-2019 07:08 PM

you will have to prove the value. I went thru this with UPS. They would only give me my cost on the intakes, not the $$$ amt the customer paid. It was 3 brand new intakes. :(

I really had to think about this for a minute - you still have the original $200 - once Fedex pays you and you refund your customer all is good :)

northernoffshore 05-07-2019 07:53 PM

fed ex from my experiences , you have about a 65% chance of receiving your package without some sort of hassle

He paid you 200 bucks, you put that 200 in your pocket, Fedex lost it and sent you 200, you send the 200 fed ex sent you to the guy. You still have the 200 the guy sent you in your pocket, Fedex lost it so he did not receive itl the 200 from fed ex makes the guy whole because he did not receive, You still have his original 200 in your pocket.

In other news....

FedEX and UPS have announced a deal to merge and create one giant shipping company. This new company will be called "Fed-UP"

SB 05-07-2019 09:05 PM

Now, Uncle Sam takes 25% of your income. State another 10%.

So, when you buy something that is taxed 5%,how much tax did you really pay on that item ? :) everyone can drink to that ! :)

Noone answer,it is painful, so meant to provoke a painful laugh. Doh.

The only one who made out on this deal is the guy a Fed-Ex who now has a manifold for his big block Camaro !!!! LOL

i was thinking the same thing.

IGetWet 05-09-2019 06:16 AM

I try to avoid using fed ex at all costs. They’re a joke from my experiences. I didn’t think ups was that great until my company switched to fed ex.... Took a couple years of shipments ending up on the wrong side of the country and/or late shipments to switch back to ups.

Everyone gets there money back here but the guy who bought the manifold now has to find another.

Wally 05-14-2019 10:27 AM

They all suck! (UPS and Fed-Ex) i can tell you stories about both! Fed-Ex is like clockwork with a shipment we get here every couple months of about 500-1000 units of small electrical motors....Every single shipment we get is damaged! The best ones are when they try and repackage them...i swear they use a bobcat to scoop everything up and dump them into another big box! With broken pallets and all!! LOL i guarantee it costs them more in the reimbursement fees for the damaged motors then what the shipping charge was in the first place!!
And UPS is awesome too...they're not bad with delivery to us but delivering our products in certain areas of the country is another story...we had a distributor in PA that was constantly getting boxes with damaged product. We went back and forth with UPS on it and they ultimately told us that they wont pay for any damages unless we use expanding foam in our boxes. we went and spent $30k on two machines...still getting broken stuff...one of our regional sales guys went to visit the distributor that was having the most issues to see what the boxes looked like when they arrived....as he was walking up to the front door here comes the UPS driver.....slows down just enough to time it right and THROWS two of our boxes out the door of the moving truck onto the front entrance of the building! LOL! The best part of that story is UPS denied that their drivers do that! Until the distributor gave us some security video of it when it happened again the very next day!!! LOL!

Mbam 05-14-2019 10:45 AM

The last time UPS f---d me up I was so mad I registered ups-sux.com

If anyone is interested I would be happy to let them have the domain, i will never have the time to do anything with it.

offshoredrillin 05-14-2019 11:11 AM

Fed ex ground is the worst... As an Ex UPS driver I'll give you this advice on how things work. 99% of damage and lost pkgs comes from poor packaging and overweight shipments. the purpose of the packaging is to protect the contents, recycling is great but bent up and continually reused cardboard loses its strength. dont cheap out on the packaging. secondly if the product falls out of the box, they have no where to go with it unless it is in someones hands as it breaks. always always always attach another label with the shipper and consignee info, that way it can be reboxed and sent or returned to shipper. anything that falls out of a box is called over goods and goes to a trailer and gets sold off like storage wars. i cannot stress the labeling of the contents itself, its a simple and worth every second it takes to do it.

Baja Rooster 05-14-2019 12:05 PM

It took fed ex 3 weeks to deliver a package from Jegs because it required a signature, and the “missed delivery” tags showed them at around 1am. Wtf.

ALL_IN! 05-15-2019 02:32 PM

I had a package delivering from FedEx about 2 months ago. Signature required. My wife happened to be working from home that day (which is odd, as we are rarely home).

So I'm tracking this package and it says delivery attempted at xx:xx am. I call my wife and ask and she says no one rang the doorbell or knocked. I believe Fedex drove by the house (or didn't) knowing that we're never home during the day and didn't stop. Just tagged their system as 'delivery attempted'. Flash forward 48 hours, and I called Fedex to see where I could pick it up. They said local hub - great! ...I get there and now they've lost the package! So I call retailer and explain situation - they get same response from Fedex. So they refund my money (this was a NOS item). Very frustrating. No one at Fedex seemed to really understand what was going on. ...like they all started working yesterday.

Quinlan 05-15-2019 05:04 PM

We are an office furniture installation co. I get stuff shipped to us all day long. You would not believe some of the stories I could tell.
What is really crazy - some of the manufactures actually ship Chairs in boxes by FedX. Watching the small girl on our route struggling to get this box -that is about as big as she is- out of the damn truck. Fortunately I always make the originating dealers deal w the freight claims. We just sign- Damaged Boxes- on almost all receivers.
And my dogs don't like the Men in Brown lol- 2 have been bitten. BIG sign on fence DOGS lol.
Then we could start talking LTL loads- some of chit I get from them is even worse. Work surfaces that have been sliding around in the back of a truck all day-

Interceptor 05-16-2019 10:04 AM

Fastenal is a good way to ship items if you can deliver or pick up at one of their locations. They are a third party shipper and will carry goods along with their deliveries to their franchise stores.

snapmorgan 05-16-2019 03:37 PM

I was a FedEx ground contractor for 15 years. That business is so disorganized and poorly run that I am surprised anyone ever gets their package. Their only focus is on the shareholders getting a dividend check at the end of the year.

mike tkach 05-19-2019 09:53 PM

well it,s been close to two weeks now and nothing from fed ex.guess i will need to waste an hour tomorrow to find out what the hold up is.i will never ship anything with fed ex again.

mike tkach 05-28-2019 09:07 PM

went back to the local fedex today.they lose your package and make you jump through hoops to get claim setelled.no check yet but i sent the buyer a refund check today.he has been very patient and i may never see a check from fedex but he will see one in a few days.no more fedex for me!

****ty companies count on your time being too valuable to deal with their mess. For a company that has the ability to pick up a parcel in Mongolia and hand deliver it a day later in middle America the nebulous bureaucracy is by design.

I appreciate the heads up and will avoid them.

mike tkach 06-12-2019 08:31 AM

well i finally got a check from fed ex.package was insured for 200.00 and shipping was 36.92 so i should have got 236.92.they sent me a check for 221.36,when i talked to a claim,s person he stated that they had no record of what i paid for shipping so they estimated the shipping charge.keep in mind i sent them a text picture of my receipt that showed the shipping charges.i asked him why he did not simply call the shipping terminal and ask what the shipping charges were he said,we don,t make outgoing calls during the investigation,i said maybe you should if you want to do a complete investigation.bottom line is i got shorted 15 bucks and some change.if they short every claim 15 bucks they save a ton of money because they loose a lot of packages.when i told him i will never do business with fed ex again he said, good bye, have a nice day.as i said before,no more fed ex for me,ever.

Fedex just jammed me for a box of bling from CP. says I signed for it at 11:45 AM. My shop is ten miles away and Im there 9-5 so there is a driver with billet goodies for sale on his route.

I had a SERIOUS problem back in 2001 that was a direct result of a f***up between Merc and their local deal . A problem that involved the removal of the engine and thousands in costs. Neither wanted to admit they were wrong and I had to go to the highest level to make a complaint .. 'the office of the president'
Whoever the d**ck was that took my call even already knew about the problem and his attitude was 'F**k you , you're international' even though they readily accepted my 'international US dollars' for a complete engine and drive package. When I told him I was about to pull the trigger for a nice complete 350 package with drive and he wasn't giving me much incentive to 'stay black' his response was 'You can buy an engine from whomever you want' . Arrogant little MOFO .
Well I went out and bought a nice 350 Volvo complete. Much better piece of equipment anyway.
No more Merc s**t for me .

FedEx really suck...

I once bought a set of Snell C/V Speakers on Ebay, and the seller boxed them up and sent 2 boxes With FedEx...They friking lost one of the boxes..Lost....Gone, never to be seen again.. A box the size of a small child...An about 130# box little over 4' high.. I have no Idea how you lose something that big, when your main business is moving boxes from A to B...When talking to customer service, she could not fathom how I was blown away, over how they lost something so big..It's been about a year, I still check from time to time.. But no..

LOL that reminded me of an incident a few years back.....wife buys an area rug that was 10'10' square. Had it shipped from the company warehouse in TX. After 3 weeks of watching it sit at the UPS distribution hub i finally called UPS and asked about it. Guy on the line says....hmm, must have fallen off a conveyor or something and is sitting on the floor! I laughed and said if your guys are tripping over a 1' diameter and 10' long tube then they are all blind or stupid! Needless to say 3 days later and still nothing...called again and they say its being investigated and could take up to a week. So i call the company we bought it from and explain everything to them. We decided to buy another one and refuse delivery of the first is it ever shows up. Needless to say 4 days later the second arrives no problem. a week later UPS cant explain where it went!?!? We got our credit but how can you loose something that big???

sounds to me thats more like the warehouse needed a new rug by an entrance or an employee did at home haha

I have another one to add, I ordered a rare coin, worth a few grand. It's supposed to be signed for by an adult, USPS stuffs it in my mailbox and doesn't notify anyone. I mailed out custom invitations to my daughters wedding cost $2.50 each to mail only 85% got to their destination. When I had my computer company we received shipments every day. I was walking up front when the Fed-Ex driver comes in with this crap pile of cardboard in her arms. I told her to get out and to never try that again. It looked like it got wet and then someone drove a truck over it a couple of times. The worse part is that they rape you on the insurance because they know they will have to pay a claim.
