Powertrain issues
I sympathize with you guys having 14,000-16,000lb boats with Bravo drives. You have to be thinking how long will they last even if I feather the throttles and take forfreakingEVER to get on plane.
So my question is what would be the most reliable engine and drive combination you would wish for on your boat? Merc 700/NXT? Ilmor725/Indy? Yanmar 480/Arnesons? 850/1075/6 drives? Weismann 6 drives/multispeed transmissions? Or name your own I didn't think of.. |
SSM's..... dont know to gear up for a re-rig over winter or just sell

eh, i'm sure there are a lot of cats out there that wouldn't have any trouble getting past us. It would take a pretty good cat though..... I wish I had a video of the time we "pulled" the 42 MTI dirty duck..... Man that was fun :D

The arneson I think would make a great drive for the BT as the the arneson would give more forward thrust rather than trimming out and getting too much bow lift. The arneson would also be lighter than an SSM 6 saving weight in the transom area and in essence, creating more transom lift. |

have you thought about the bravo to arneson conversion? They should handle 700-800hp and be pretty reliably.

I spoke with Rik about it last winter and time it was all over with you could do #6's and not have those props out the back of your boat in the way of the swim platform.
|
Just bolted a NEW set of BMAXES on last nite. Everyone, wish me luck over the weekend. If I update before tuesday, bad things probably happened. ....................... Chris :coolcowboy:

The 3 Arnesons would not be much more than half the "total" cost of the #6 Merc's and would be 1/3rd the weight on the transom. |

See your form Wichita...I come through every year at least once on my way to hunt in CO. and/or to visit relatives. hope all is well in the great state of TX...still pretty good here...for now. Guess you like the 600s a little more than the 500efi's:D

I don't know how you do the math here but 3 #6's will run you over 100K plus transmissions, bell housings and such. Close to $115K +

Both were set up excellent, the XR boat planed maybe abut second faster, but once on plane the Arneson out accelerated it. Docking was equal. For the coin, you cant beat an Arneson. I'm sold on them, less parts, handles more power, less coin..Good Luck on the B-maxs. |
a 46 BT with trip #6's would be too heavy in the back. You should really go with arnesons.
|
Are ASD bravo conversions about 25k each?

I was thinking she wouldn't get out of the water but endeavor1 proved me wrong...

To be completley honest, this was the first time Ive had the ole girl up and out of the water like that. Kinda exciting yet a little :coolcowboy:scary. A lotta boat to get up there.....

Get pics guys, it looks like when that small boat jumped the wake he hit his head on the dash.
|
I missed my head on the dash but it did almost get my hair wet leaning over the starboard side. 240# rag doll effect.

Love watching your boat run. Gonna pull the engines out of ours, work on the bottom, and see if 100 is in our future.....
