I stuffed my boat running in following seas showing off , racing larger slower boat. Had to much trim , running around 70ish. It's amazing how quickly we went from that to 30 or so. No injuries other than the windshield support and some bruises. My friend in the passenger bolster somehow fell under it and got all tangled up, we had to help him out. Another time in a poker run , I hit a large wake that just came out of nowhere. We were running 77-78mph , the boat launched , landed kind of crossed up and hooked to the portside. Again no injuries other than some bruises ... that one was pretty scary.
As a passenger in a friends 31 Larry Smith, running 70+ , he hit a submerged object and busted the gimbal ring. The boat did a complete flat spin 360. I couldn't believe it stayed upright and none of us got thrown out. It was unbelievable how fast that one happened. Again as a passenger this past Sat. in a friends 37 OL. We were running along with a poker run when one of the boats launched , landed HARD ejecting the throttleman, boat then launched again landed and hooked portside right in front of a boat on to our starboard side which put us in a situation since there was another boat to our portside. Not much room for evasive manuevers. Luckly the boat on our port had plenty of room to move... all I can say is my friend had to cut throttles and turn the boat hard to port fast. It all worked out and from what I here the ejected person suffered some injuries but it could have been a lot worse. |

When I was a kid I was water skiing and had a boat pass between me and our boat. I saw him coming and dropped, handle of my rope was shredded.
Once in a bass fishing tourney on Table Rock I was all the way up the White River and had to run a long way back to make weigh in; was running flat out (77 mph on GPS) and was turning around a 180 degree point, caught a wake and did a 360 flat spin. No damage, took right back off. Fortunately no close calls in the performance boats. |
Didn't have an accident but I was on a boat this year when the driver had a major heart attack.. that was not fun...

went down just east of west sister island labor day 1988 on my families 35 chris sea skiff, three and a half hours in the water before a stick boat came along and saved us, that was not fun
