South Jersey Stupidity
 

Off of Absecon Island (AC, Ventnor, Margate, Longport NJ) today the entire island was in a dense unwavering fog throughout the day. Visibility was approximately 300ft throughout the day. There was virtually no one boating in the ocean today, for what were obvious reasons to every person with half a brain, except for the owner of an 1980’s 39’ Cigarette. This a$$ decided to rip down the beach at about 50mph flying blind due to visibility. Through the fog I caught a glimpse of the graphics and recognized what boat is was since I know where it docks, and I know it has no radar.
Let’s face it people who enjoy our type of boats don’t have the best reputation to begin with and stupidity like this certainly doesn’t help things. Here’s my question are there any Coast Guard or other type of maritime guidelines/regulation regarding safe operation of a vessel in low to no visibility conditions? :angry-smiley-038:

We were just inside the LBI inlet at the sand bar and the guys were testing the race boat. They started out and came back in and said it was bad right outside. We also saw a big orange outerlimits start out and come back in...so some of us 609'ers did the right thing!!!

At least the Benny's pimp a nice ride instead of rusted out ole Chevy with half spray painted quarter panels, the other half are primed with lifted rear springs and make-shift dual exhaust.... Oh yeah....just bustin your ballz guys!!! I was with a guy last week who lives in Bergen Cty., he came here to Red Bank to meet in our office, he called it "God's Country"... Crazy how 20-30 miles in Jersey and you're grooped a northerner or southerner...

Unfortunately, the stupid gene population is growing. Stupid people move from one activity that requires common sense to another. A few stupid people die, then laws get passed to protect all the other stupid people. We no longer have to share the cost for their stupidity, but we don't get to enjoy the activity any more.

This country would be a lot smarter as a whole if we hadn't made three wheelers illegal 20 years ago! :cool:
