I've never understood how that boat could have a 12 person rating when there is not near enough seating in that boat for 12 people.

I was curious so I looked up 22' Crownlines. If it was a 225 (Bowrider) it's rated capacity is 11 people and it's max weight capacity is only 1583 lbs. Then I saw a few google listings that showed a capacity of 12 but these seemed to be on earlier (i.e. 2001) models. Either way, tragic. I'm sure we will learn more in the coming future and hopefully people will keep the fact that tragic accidents can happen in their mind.

so sad

The passengers are suing crownline for negligence. Their claiming the bow seating was a bad/unsafe design.

Um didnt they crash into a tied up Tug? it is clearly not Crownlines fault. CLEARLY.
Who the Phuch tied the tug up in their way thats who I would go after.:lolhit::lolhit::lolhit:
12 people in a boat and crash, then blame someone else!
Sad day

This is why lawyers and politicians continue to thrive.

No one is responsible for their own actions and have to be told what is right and wrong.

Look what happened to the gun industry after the atorneys gut done, bankrupt both Colt and Ruger. Matter of fact read the discloser on the barrel sometime. It is crazy that someone needs to be actually told that a gun could bring bodily harm!!!

I knew 1 of the girls that died in the accident and two others that survived with major injuries. Sad deal all the way around. This is America, people sue for Skittles so I am not surprised.

RIP Liv

"The plaintiffs are seeking $75,000 in damages."

They are suing, blaming the manufacturer and asking for
$ 75,000.00? That in itself seems bizzare.

Sorry to hear about the deaths, but who was driving? Did they know how to operate the boat?

How the hell do you run into a tug at speed?

Sue the driver, not Crownline.

Though there were 14 passengers, Sullivan said that didn't contribute to the accident. He said witnesses told him the boat driver's view was obstructed by people on the bow. The woman driving the boat was chosen for that role because she was sober, Sullivan said.

14 People? Thats over the CG rating for the boat. Case dismissed!

Driver was sober, but had she operated this boat before? At what point do you stop the boat and say "I can't see"?
