I had to do the rice trick last year. Left the phone on top of a jeep i was working on.... it started raining, and I forgot it there.

Turned the phone off, and covered it in rice for a day.

Worked fine afterwards!

Had my iPhone 4s on the trailer in my bookbook case while I washed the boat. Friend noticed it after 15 minutes of water being dumped on it. Case is no where near water proof. Still works though

I would pull the battery and turn the oven on for a few minutes. Just let it get warm(90-100* or so) and put the phone in there for a few hours. Take the phone out and repeat.

The key thing is to pull the battery immediately!

The battery on the iPhone cannot be removed without disassembly of the phone.....

The lifeproof case is water proof to 10 feet or so, they even have waterproof headphones so you can wear it swimming.

True but VERY easy to remove batt. Two penelope screws, slide up back cover and unplug batt (double sided in).

True, but not something you could do quickly if out on the lake and you drop your phone in the water.... Back when I had a black berry, I jumped in numerous times with it. I was able to immediately pull the battery and it saved the device. With the iPhone, you can't immediately pull the battery.....

OK I'll be the azz and say it- are you sure it was the water damage or was it he shock of being on a sailboat??

I dropped my Iphone in the water and it did help to laugh about it...

$200.00 and Apple replaced my iPhone. I had backed it up to iCloud just a few days before and in 15 minutes I had all of my information and settings restored.

It is entirely possible that I suffered from the shock of being on a sailboat...hadn't factored that in... humm.

Went to the Apple Store and they confirmed the phone is toast. I have an appointment Wednesday to have it replaced for $200.00 which I thought was a fair price. I did not have the tools to take it apart at the time. We put it in rice when we got home many hours later but it was too late... I ordered a waterproof case today!

Get a life proof case.....I was taking underwater videos with mine...$89.00 at Best Buy
