online course?

Is there an online course, or resource that would help a new to boating guy learn how to properly work the trim tabs, and engine trims.

There are plenty of videos on Youtube, but the best way to learn from my experience, is spend time at the helm with somebody knowledgeable there to assist.

I hired a guy locally who worked at a marina and was there leadman for all things at the dock. He carved out 2 hours of his time and we went out in my new boat and he really helped me out. Worth every penny, it was hands on and not centered around a bass boat.

I was in the same boat......new boat owner with his first boat. I played with the trim tabs and engine trim a bunch for the first few hours. Then I reached out to a few guys who had the same hull. They all confirmed what I found out....leave trim tabs up and engine trim down. Long story short, nothing beats just playing with them at various speeds in various conditions. You will find out what works for your boat.

Websites like Boat Ed (boat-ed.com) and BoatUS Foundation (boatus.org) offer online boating courses covering different topics, including boat handling and trim tab usage, also check out Youtube, Tons of videos on there. Good luck

Seat time and lots of it. Be aggressive until you get uncomfortable or scared. Then find someone who has a lot of seat time to help you through the danger zone. It is normal to get scared so don’t give up. An intensive course such as Tres Martin will accelerate your learning curve. Do your fast driving by your self or with an instruct. Remember that you can pull the throttle back when or if you are uncomfortable.
