Default Bimini a nice safe place? Was NOT a fan of Nassau

Looking to get away with the wife for a few days and was wondering how bimini was? We went on a cruise in may that stopped in Nassau. We took an "excursion" to Atlantis. Really was not impressed with Nassau, Atlantis was nice but the rest was scary. Looking for just layed back coronas from morning to night and maybe some fishing. I like that its a short hop from FL. Any other islands close to FL? Thank you and if I'm wrong about Nassau please let me know.

The bluff House in the Abacos is great. Fly into Marsh Harbor and ferry over.

With the possible exception of the menu, lubberslanding sounded fantastic. The boat rental rates were beyond reasonable.

Lubbers landing looks awesome, those cottages are perfect and that price seems great. What's the easiest way to get there? We would be dropping kids off at my parents in Naples FL so leaving from Ft Lauderdale isn't a problem.

Give "Austin" a PM on here. I would imagine you could get a flight right to Marsh Harbor were you will pick up your boat...

I was disappointed in Nassau too. I think I will take lady to lubers next as other have suggested. I like the idea of renting a boat and enjoying the beautiful area. Did you take one of the tours where they drove you through the Nassau ghetto? I was like WTF.

Lmao exactly, it was an "excursion" to Atlantis from the cruise ship. I saw the bus and was like, this is going to be interesting. Then they drove us all through the ghetto. Had my kids with me so that didn't make me happy. Also had my aunt and uncle he's an old school Brooklyn boy and he was not too happy about it lol. Then you get to Atlantis and everything is triple. I want a hammock, coronas, and a fishing pole. Nobody has mentioned bimini? Really liked how close it was to ft Laurdale anyone ?.

Back to your original question,Bimini, It is a great place and very safe. The nicest place on the island is Bimini Bay Resort. Next would be the Bimini Big Game Club. Boating over is easy on a calm day. 60 miles or less off the coast of Miami.

The Bahamas is essentially a ghetto with an accent!

Bimini is like 46 miles from Ft Lauderdale but is a small island. The new resort Bimini Bay is not quite finished and expensive. Bimini is cool but a small island and not a lot to do, not even a casino open yet.

Nassau is a joke, to me the straw market = stray market!

Atlantis is cool but pricey. Marsh Harbour is decent but not real easy to get to. West End is a joke, nice resort (when open) but $40 cab ride to the other side of the island (Grand Bahama, really touristy).
