carrera 202 xr help lower unit question
 

ok anyone help! i just bought a carrera last summer first boat it is a xr 202 its a 93 94 ish with a 5.7 does anyone know what type of horsepower the lower unit can handle? i bought a weiand 177 for it and plan on droppin it in next month before i paint it?

What outdrive do you have, Bravo? If it is an Alpha then I wouls say no. Bravo 2 or XR would hold. imho

If it is a alpha, 300hp max and drive it as easy as you can no racing no hard/fast take off, just slowly roll in to the trottle, and try to back off on the trottle if the boat comes out of the water and then slowly speed back up, And if every thing on the inside of the drive is good then you might be ok,You should be able to do the Same thing safly with a bravo 1 up to 500 HP.
