Short vid clip of the Damn Carrera

Damn Carrera running at the Islamorada/Holiday Isle race 1984
Small waves that day 2-4s so the Carrera was at a disadvantage to the cats..

Just asking do these 30's porpoise a lot ? I understand only 30 ft with a 26 degree deadrise bottom. Possible stern heavy ? I know the 30 Cobalt is going to have a lot more bow weight than the Carrera race boat will ever have unless they were running a ballast set up in the bow area.

Setup and balance in a boat is everything, its a 25deg hull by the way,,my 27 has the same hull as the 30 just 3ft shorter,,only time I get some porpoise is when my tank is almost empty (200gal).. Type of propellor , where you put weight (batteries, stereo, cooler, etc) and whether props turn in or out can completely change the ride of any boat... Carrera 30 was the national champion for two years back in the late 70s / early 80s when they use to race in big water all the time so I am pretty sure its a well designed hull. :-)
