A few questions on me new 251 Convincor
 

Hey all, I purchased my first boat a 1992 251 Convincor a month ago and just put a rebuilt 502 Mag in it thats basically stock (for now) except for a set of H.S. roller rockers. I took it out for the first time this weekend and have a few issues I was hoping to get some advice on.
1) It has a moderate port lean at speed so I have to run the trim tap at 20-30%.

2) In choppy water (lake MI between Sug. and GH during coast guard festival) water I could approach 58-59 MPH GPS, but in smooth water (Lake Mac) I could barely break 50MPH. Its running a bravo one that I'm assuming is a 1.5:1 with a 23P Mirage 3 Blade at 4800-5000 RPM. Shouldn't I be running mid 60's on smooth water?

P.S. I know I look like an idiot in the title with ME new boat but I didn't notice it until after I posted this.

My 253 leans to the port side a bit also mainly at midrange speed, i just run the left tab down a bit and leave the right side neutral. With a stock 502MPI I can pull a mirage 25 about 4900-5000 and a bravo 24 about 4700-4800 both props are stock. Best GPS speed so far is 66 but consistantely 63-64 with a few people gas and coolers. Not really a big difference in smooth water and chop for me, maybe 1-2mph at the most.
You may not be trimming the boat enough, my buddy just bought a 251 with a 454 and i consistently run 2-3 mph faster then he does when im at the wheel of his boat, he doesnt feel comfortable with all that trim yet, they do get pretty loose and takes a little getting used to.

If this is your first checkmate you will need to love your trim button. I had a 1991 251 GTX. Your boat has a good 7 to 10 mph in her. And if your engine is a 502 you should be able to have a 25 pitch mirage. Happy boating
