253 How do you like it?

After some searching it appears that the 253Convincor is what I will most likely upgrade to. Any input from those who own them would be appreciated. Do all years have cockpit liners? I'm tired of the carpeted wood that's in my 229. I'm looking in the '96 to '98 vintage with a minimum of 454mag. Has anyone Procharged one of these?

Now all I need is a buyer for a mint 229.

I loved mine. It is listed here for sale, 1998 with 454 mag, mint condition. I pulled the 454 and put a 502 with a procharger in its place. Went 78 mph on gps and handled awsome!!! I took the 502 out and put it in my Sonic, the 454 is back in the checkmate. This motor only has about 100 hrs. on it. Only $30,000, wife says it has to go. You won't find a better price anywhere.

Hey MATE223 I met you at Hooter's last Saturday night at the chill out. I own a 98
convincor 253 with a fresh 502 pushing around 575hp.The boat runs 75 on GPS with a 26 pitch hydromotive prop. The boat has Checkmate's version of a fiberglass liner and snap in carpet. The boat handles great and does well in rough water.WE have had the boat for 4 years and have been real happy with it but,we are thinking of moving up to 30-33 foot with twins. If you're intersted in the boat let me know.

Mate229- i have a 1997 convincor with a factory 525sc.it has a cockpit liner but a wood cabin floor. dealer told me this is the
way they came with the deluxe cabin.the boat
is great in rough water and fast for a 25'
boat.the only thing i was not happy with was
the quality of the vinyl.definately not as good as my'89 enforcer.----duster340

I know I have asked you this before, what year is your boat? Open or closed bow? Any additional info would be great? Have you used it for skiing?

Eric,
The boat is a 1989 but I will put it up against a 1999 and look as good. It has a closed bow with small cuddy cabin, 1 deck hatch. I think you were looking at the Stiletto which looks similar. The 229 has a 24 degree bottom which is better in the rough stuff. The Stiletto has a 19 degree which will beat you up in rough water. The boat has less than 200 hrs and about 90hrs on the engine since major upgrade, pistons, rods, heads cam etc. Runs low 70's easily. Let me know if interested. I does have a ski eye but I have not used it. Previous owner did.

Ken, Mark
Thanks for the input. I'll keep you both in mind when I get a new owner for mine.
Mark, what do you mean by Checkmates version of a liner? Is it not a full liner, or just bottom of the the cockpit? Not too worried about the cabin, Checkmate needs to update from the 80's style velvet and buttons. I would probably recover in something more current.

Most of the floor is fiberglass, but the center section over the fuel tank is removeable and I am not sure what it is made of but it is holding up fine. The cabin is all fiberglass with a floor drain. :)
