Engine mods for ZT 240
I have a '97 ZT 240 with the 330hp carb 7.4l motor. Great boat, needs to go faster. I have two price marks, what I can do with around 2K and then what I can do with 6-7K. Boat currently has 140 hours and with below a half tank of gas will run 64 mph at 4800 rpm turning a mirage 23p. This is my first boat so I appreciate any info you might provide.

I think you need to aim at the 6-7 price mark. When you start adding noticable HP, you need to upgrade the exhaust...which will cost you 1,500 - 2,000.
Option 1: Supercharger and internal upgrades to handle the blower. You should change the cam, pistons, and exhaust valves at minimum. Heads and Crank could also be changed, but not within budget.(stock 330 Crank can withstand up to 550hp.) You will also need a new carb and a prop. B&M(Holley) 174/250 may be your cheapest blower.
Option 2: Pull your motor, sell it, buy a N/A 500-550hp Crate motor, and upgrade your exhaust and prop.
FYI: my 253 Convincor runs 79.9 gps with 550+ hp. Your boat has less wetted surface (your platform in incluced in your length), so i think you should see low 80's with this type of HP.
