2000 ZT 260 with the 7.4: The gps showed a speed of 71 one time but I have never been able to get back to that speed. 67-69 is where I can get it to now. Winter is almost here for me and will have some things done. I would like to see 75.......

I have not done a thing to it, except change the exhaust manifolds. Nothing special, I think they are "GLM" alum ones. I bought a set off of ebay, for I think $500. The 67-69 is what I have run this year on a lake. Last year, late sept is when it ran 71 on the South River here in MD. We were coming back from the OPA Races in Cambridge. The river and actually the bay were both flat. When I looked down at the gps , as we were half down the river, it showed 71. I was cheating some because there was a very, very, very good driver at the controls. Former race driver. He was with me for the day to try and help my driving skills.............I do not know much about gps. I have been told that they are accurate. It just seems no matter what I do now, I can not get it to that speed. Not that I need to. I am fine going just over 60. In fact, I think the boat acts best at 45 -50. Where I do most of my boating, 45-50 is plenty fast and can sometimes make me the "big dog". I was only able to get out 5 or 6 times this year. Boating is just about done for this year, since my son is in fall sports. My plans have always been to upgrade to a 502. I have toyed with the idea of a 500efi but I really do not need it. This winter I plan to explore looking for a 502. I want something reliable, ploished everything. I will see how it goes. Overall I love the boat for what I do.

this post makes me think, somthing is wrong with my boat??

im 375 hp, you must be the 385 right?

so 10 hp, same boat (pretty much) and your 7-9 mph faster then me?
i was out last night bymyself 1/2 tank of fuel and the best i saw was 60.6 i was 60.3-60.5 the hole time. i messed with it 30 ways. i wonder what it is?

i was saying that to a buddy, i said, i think somthing is up with the boat. it seems to run fine, but the speedo used to read like 70-72 now its around 54-65

is 60 mph off for the boat?

I know what you are saying. I did see 71 now I can't get it that fast. I do have the 385. I figure after the plugs are changed and I put high test back in it, I should see 71 again. Where I boat now only has regular gas. They do not even offer a "plus" gas. If mine was off as much as yours is, then I would think something is wrong. What rpms can you get to?

Enforcer, what you said in your post, is what has been explained to me before. Somebody told me it was running "downhill"????? or something like that.
