Lake Norman this Weekend
 

Checkmate will be on Lake Norman this weekend for the fun run.

Dean Reynolds and JR Jenny will both be here.

Please post some pics of the event , I'm thinking about moving to that area and would love to see some pics of better boat hangouts

Want to learn more about Lake Norman , on a summer weekend , is the Lake large enough to run fast (100 MPH ) and not hit other boats ?Next summer I'm going to take a trip down from NJ and check it out and once my home sells I will might move there .

I moved from new jersey 30 years ago, when most land around lake norman was leased from cresent land and timber.
In the 80s you could go from one end to the other without meeting another boat. Now pick a weekday early morning,
and you can still do it about 1 in 5 times. Depends on how fast you are....Not like Greenwood lake. much much better.

How large and what part of the state does Lake Greenwood sit ?

Not a problem to run 100 on norman just not a good Idea in the summer on saturday and sunday after 11 am Once you learn the lake and shoal area you be fine with a few main channel blast to 100. But if you wan't to run the hole lake at 100 thats not going to happen. Lake norman is a great lake full of resturants and bars on the water. The night life is as good as the daytime boating. Their are alot of fast boat here that run 100 plus.

So you can atleast go 75 mph in certain areas on a busy weekend ? I'm going to take a ride down this winter to check out Property , then next summer come down for a week with my Skater

There are many fast boats on Norman and everyone seems to manage the crowds fine. Anytime during the week is fine all day. Summer weekends are busy but seems like hotboaters still manage. I hear a lot more boats running hard late in the afternoon/early evening when most are regular boaters are off the lake or going home.

The season is extended here compared with the north east. So you'll find lots of great days in late september and into october where the lake is not crowded. Seen plenty of nice days through the winter too, where temps will jump into the 70's and you can get out.
