Checkmate Engine hatch hinge upgrade
 

Anyone ever upgrade engine hatch hinges on their Checkmate? I know some who have had issues with theirs and others who have not. If you have done this and have pics, that would be great.

My '99 Convincor hinges are doing satisfactory. Some hairline cracks in the boat and the screw are spinning in the hatch, but everything is holding up other than that, ie, no issues with performance or fear of losing the hatch on the water.

I upgraded my 259 to Dana Marine hydraulic hinges. The install was no big deal, howver, the pistons leaked within a few months. Dana fixed them free of charge. All in all, a good upgrade to do, even with the problem I had.

Any pics of your application? I assume, like the pic shows on the website, that you moved them outward and canned the old ones entirely. Cool set-up!

I looked through my pics and couldnt find any that showed the hinges well. As you said, you just replace the original hinges with these. You do have to take the upholstery off the sunpad, to gain access to the bolts.
