ZT 260 Engine hatch actuators

Does anyone know the make and model number of the original electric hatch actuators that came in a Checkmate ZT 260? Mine were not in the boat when I bought it. :(

should be one lift? what year is it?
i just ordered a new one for mine. its a lenco, and it was a 36" over all one. got it from port side marine in danvers mass. going to pick it up later today. mine is a 2003 26 ZT

ZT 260 engine hatch actuators

My boat was stripped by the previous owner. :(
It has screw holes where there was a single center electric actuator and screw holes for dual electric actuators on the sides as well.

I think it had the single center actuator originally, then it was changed over to the duals later. I heard Checkmate uses duals now since the hatch is so heavy and the center one pushes at such a bad angle. Plus the single center actuator gets in the way of a tall hot rod engine intake.

Do you have the model number of the center actuator. maybe I could get one of those if it clears the top of my flame arrestor.

Do you have any pictures of your engine compartment I could look at?

Eddie marine makes nice hydraulic hinges. They are fast and give you easy access to the engine but very expensive. :(

yea if your doing a tall motor with carb your going to want to go dual for sure to make room in the center. mine hits my cover a tad with the 496 in there.
not sure on the part number but it was 36" long fully extended. you could go on lencos web site they have a complete chart.

ZT 260 Engine hatch actuators

Thanks for the info and the pictures.
Great looking ZT 260, trailer and engine compartment! Clean!

I'm still trying to decide which way to go with the hatch actuator(s). Getting tired of lifting it manually.
Man, this hatch is heavy! When you changed your center electric actuator, did your hatch feel heavier than it should be? Maybe mine has water soaked into the cushions... i will have to investigate.

My little 1" rubber bumpers that the hatch rests on when it's down were mostly ground away. I had to buy new ones from Checkmate. I'm installing an extra set to distribute the load better.

Anyway, I might be able to fit a single center electric actuator with this flame arrestor. Can you get the model number off yours when you get some time? I don't want to buy the wrong one since they are not returnable. How much was yours?
This would be my cheapest option.

Then there is the dual electric hatch actuators. They wont hit the top of the engine but they get in the way of storage on the side of the engine and get in the way of working on the engine. not the end of the world. But 2 of them will be about $700 ($350+$350) plus tax and shipping... :(
I think these LENCO part numbers are right: (If not could somebody tell me what they are please.)
LEN-20780-001 HL-2000 12V len retracted 37" stroke 20" length extended 57"

And if you are spending $700 you might as well consider the dual hydraulic actuator hinges from Eddie marine or Dana marine. Approximately $1100. Great looking, fast, nothing in the way except u need to find a spot for another hydraulic pump and a bit of work to install. But they won't make your boat any faster... 8-)

ZT 260 Engine hatch light

Noysee, I like your idea of putting the engine bay lights up on the hatch. Light where you need it. :)

noyzee 06-01-2011 11:29 AM

pretty sure you would be looking for a hl1200 part number. its 41" over all.

the rubber stopers go all the time, ive put about 10 sets in over the last 3 years. i am all out and need to order more as well.

the hatch is not light at all. i cant say weather im a wimp and think its heavy or maybe your a wimp and think its to heavy, or maybe some people may think it is light.
im 5-10 180 pounds and in pretty good shape and id call it a hefty girl.

i love the side lifts!! those look great!!!

as for the lifts themself. i paid 400 for 1!!

Thanks for the info. That helps a lot.
I'm no wimp either. The hatch just feels heavier than it needs to be even though the back rest of the rear bench is attached to it.. It is very well built. Maybe over built.

Did you use just one Lenco HL1200 electric actuator in the center?
