Yea, I am planning on finishing my engine and adding the steering/gimbal parts this spring, establish a baseline/break in motor, then experiment with setup.

What did this boat end up running for top speed. Also did you like the imco shorty on this hull, what prop did you end up using? Thanks!

I have a 28 pitch bravo one that I ended up going 87 MPH with. I just got a 30 & 32 pitch Bravo One that I have not tried yet. I did go with an XR Upper and the Imco 2" Shorty and it chine walks pretty bad at 87, so I can't imagine going any faster?. I was hoping the big K Planes would help? The Whipple only starts to make boost around 3,900 RPM and at the top end it never gets all the way to 5...

Do you feel the Shorty Imco helped with your speed? Where you able to get the boat back on the pad and with alot of bow lift with the shorty. I am wondering if a shorty would help me pick up some speed on my 99 zt280 with a 700hp procharged motor? What are your thoughts?

A lot of people told me that I would get a 3-5 MPH increase by switching to the IMCO Shorty. I wanted it because the speeds I was flirting with I didn't want the torpedo blow out that the stock Bravo One would have caused. I feel that it helped. It seems that the hull step is in play more now than it ever was in the past with the stock Bravo One set up. Most of the time with the stock Bravo One I felt like the hull was riding away from the step from 3,100 RPM to wide open throttle? It never chine walked before because I had half the horsepower. Now it is more stable through the RPM range until I get close to the 90 MPH mark. I suffer from "Captain Overkill Syndrome" and installed a set of extremely large K-Planes that seem to help out a lot at the neutral position and makes the boat feel incredibly stable underway. I also installed Mayfair dual ram full hydraulic steering. I think this dramatically changed any stability issues I had. As you now know the ZT280 has to be the most buoyant single engine boat and anything to help with stability is needed. Needless to say the boat is radically different and I can't pin point a single rigging upgrade that I would be willing to boat without ever again. With that said I took an economical performance boat and made it and very capable, but costly missile to contend with. It pulls super hard all the way through the RPM range and I have yet to find wide open throttle. I'm hoping that I get all my "Sandy" things cleaned up before the weekend and try the 30 and 32 pitch Bravo One props that I just received...

It's an awesome project, I am excited to hear how your new props work out! Your engine is sick:) gives me some goals to strive for. Please keep me updated on your results.
