Prop Talk??

Ok, going with all of the prop talk lately I have a couple of ??'s.

My set up 1994 283Convincor
fresh 99 502mag .30 overbore with 99spec stock roller
valve train.
spinning factory 23p mirage

So far my best speed has been 61mph(gps) 64mph(spedo) this is with 3/4 tank of fuel one cooler and two adults. @ 4800-4900rpm's.

Which way do I go? Been thinking a 24p mirage or a 24 hydro.??

Or do I need to go to a 22p mirage??

Any ideas?
Thanks
Chris

just a fyi i was spinning a 23 mirage plus at 5000 switched to a hydro 24 slightly labbed and lost 500 rpms but only 1.5 mph. boat definitely road better with the hydro.

hydro

I would try 22 hydro, rpm should stay around 5000.Maybe pick up some speed but way better handling!!!!I'm running close to 625hp and use a labbed 27 hydro at5200 rpm's. I need more rpm's!!!!!!!!

I'm running a 24 labbed Hydro on my 23 Check. It has 450hp and turns 4800rpm. I lost about 200rpm from the 23 Mirage but as MXZ800 stated it rides much better. So now I can run a safe 72 as opposed to a wild 75 ride.

283,
How do you like your 283?As far as props go I would go try a 22 hydro and a 22 bravo (See witch one works better)to get the rpm's a little higher.I don't think you would gain from a 24.
Good luck
Dave

I would just lab the 23 and you would gain 2-3 MPH. Save up and put some add ons on the motor for some real speed. Then buy the hydro.

Too Old, is there any boat that you haven't had at one time or another?

283CHECK 07-03-2002 11:19 AM

Tinker, I just had a new motor installed. Kinda figured I'd see alittle more speed from it. But also wanted to stay as close to stock as possibly I'll probably sell the boat in a year or two. Got bigger itus:D

checkmate981, I love the 283 handles most water I see very well but as stated above we are looking at 30' plus and twins!!:D :D
