Have any of you weighed your whole setup with the trailer?
Looking at the 24-25' Convincors and was wondering what the total weight was. Gotta be under 6000 lbs right?

What are you planning on towing it with? I'd think closer to 7000 lbs.; as Checkmate's were not built like potato chips.
Lighter side with an aluminum trailer, heavier with a steel trailer.
I would not tow it with less than 1/2 ton truck. A good buddy towed his all over with a 1500 Dodge, but upgraded after a couple years.

illMATTic,
I towed my '98 253 502mag with a 2005 chevy 1500 4x4 5.3l x-cab with 3.42 gears for 3yrs 2.5hrs each way to the 1000 islands. It did fine, i could do 75-80 down the thruway with it. On the hills it would kick out of overdrive but on the flats it would pull it in OD with the tow/haul engaged (I did however blow the 2-3 clutch pack out at 36 or 38k but gm rebuilt it for free, it was a stock 4L60E, except for magnaflow cat back system, but I ran the truck hard). The brakes on this truck were great and stopped the rig no problem.
I then upgraded to a crew cab dmax when i had my second child and that was over kill, like it wasn't even there both in the power department and in the handling of the truck with the tongue weight. Like Sydwayz said, by the time you add up fuel and junk not to mention people in the truck and other cargo you are going to be all of 7000lbs.
What kind of 1/2 ton and what motor? How far are you towning and are there a lot of hills? Looking back I should have probably upgraded the hitch on the truck, was only a class 3 and be sure to check the rating on the draw bar, the 2" one i had from my predictor was only rated for 5k.
Feel free to pm me, I loved the boat, had it almost 6 years and wouldn't have sold it but used the money to invest in my business 2.5 yrs ago. Now I'm shopping for Hustlers!
